OSCAR PARTY CELEBRATION

Are you ready for your closeup???

I'm ready for my closeup Mr. DeMille!

Lights, camera, Gaia!

Help

Of course I was going with Milk, and Sean Penn.
UNTIL I saw Mickey Rourke in The Wrestler and now I’m obsessed with him.
So My vote is MILK best picture,
Mickey Rourke best actor,
Kate Winslet best actress,
Marissa Tomei best supporting actress,
and Heath Ledger best supporting actor. He was amazing!
Why so serious? ;-)
Wow, Ladybear, I was still dreaming in Lalaland and thinking of other stuff to include and here you are with a full on top nominees list. Right on! Thank you!
Friends, even if you have not seen all or any of the movies, just guess for the fun of it and the wonder of it. I would because I have not seen all of it. So make your posts before it airs this Sunday night and then come back and mingle for the party. : )
Ooh and I am actually going to be busy so please continue the party for me. LOL
Samme
Here are some cookies,
Best Picture - Slumdog Millionaire
Best Director - Danny Boyle for Slumdog Millionaire
Best Actor - Sean Penn for MILK
Best Actress - Kate Winslet
Best Supporting Actor - Heath Ledger
Best Supporting Actress - Marisa Tomei
Best Animated Film - (hands down) WALL-E
I’m betting with you, Samme. You’re on a roll :D
Put me down for each one of your nominations, and we’ll share the glory of predicting accurately, mkay?
Thank you for coming to this fun party Mascha. It is so hard to predict, I cannot believe that somebody else is going to lose. : (
But no matter, WE are going to have fun just for the fun of it and for the love of films. We will have our fun friendly sharing.
More sushi, sweets and cupcakes?
Share just one or two predictions or any Oscars anecdotes from the past.
thank you,
Samme
Samme is your host with the most : ) LOL
http://tinyurl.com/dcndkr
I used to give out cupcakes as rewards for fun posts on the Integral Pod where the discussions tended to be highly academic and über-analytical, heh heh heh.

Three cupcakes for you, Samme, for graciously volunteering to host this party.
Yumm,
m
I called Spago, and Wolfgang
has agreed to cook for our Oscar party! :-)
Ahhh my hostest with the mostest :-D
I have to admit that I haven’t seen any movie other than Slumdog Millionaire and I hope that wins Everything!!!! LOL! :-D
Yum, I may eat all that sushi before Oscar Night gets here :-P
Party favors for attendees;
.
And I picked out what I am gonna be wearing, the long coat jacket one,
I went to the movies last week, first time in nearly two years. Saw Milk. I remember Harvey and his impact so I was fighting back the tears throughout the movie. And then I saw the river of candles at the end, and that did it for me. I had two rivers running down my cheeks…Phewwwwww, lucky….I was wearing waterproof mascara…..lolol. Sean Penn, I have never liked until NOW.
I will bring fresh spring water with mint leaves and tangarine slices floating on top, and a bowl of powerful punch.
Thanks for inviting me….
hugs al ‘round. xo
Welcome welcome! Thank you Ladybear, Mascha, Ariela and Jaguar Goddess for gracing this fun event among friends all. For this party I am going to have a yellow ribbon.
Being the DivaSprite I am, I chose to wear this
and my escort is none other than
I love them all and to me

just to be nominated they are
winners knowing what it takes
to get to this space…
Checking out Variety
Hollywood Reporter

Mickey Rourke - best actor - The Wrestler [or]
Brad Pitt - best actor - Benjamin Button
Josh Brolin - best supporting actor - Milk
Kate Winslet - best actress - The Reader
Penelope Cruz - best supporting actress - Barcelona [or]
Marisa Tomei - best supporting actress - The Wrestler
BOLT - best animated feature film
DIRECTOR: THE CURIOUS CASE OF BENJAMIN BUTTON David Fincher
Best Picture & Score - Slumdog Millionaire
Best Writing - Original Screenplay - Milk
I do wish Leo would have been nominated too.
I want to go to the Elton John After-Party because this
year he is raising 5M to go to aids.
http://www.youtube.com/user/accesshollywood?blend=1
it will be on this youtube monday… :-) Thanks for the party Samme.
Fabulous dress Sprite and Mr. Depp looks great with you. Ladybear can you please repost your gown, it did not show and I tried pasting the link but I could not access it. Kathy, wonderful post and choices. I kinda thinking that Brad might get it too. Love your choices.
I am tagging along with Elton and his escort.
See you there Kathy also at Elton’s Party. May they raise more money for AIDS research and such.
You ladies know who is hosting the Oscars right? None other than
Hugh Jackman.
Heath is gonna win, I do know that :)
Come on Janie, pick out your gown and show us. You will be singing with Josh Groban in our Oscar’s Party.

Friends this is Jane singing.
Aren’t we having a fabulous party here at Gaia? Kudos to the Gaia team for making it possible for us to embed pictures in comments because we know we all like to party here at Gaia. LOL
Hi you wonderful people! I just dropped in for some champaigne and to hug you. Love your outfits! I thought Johnny was taking me, not Spritelett, but he’s a busy guy and probably got his calendar mixed up. I’ll forgive him. They’ll make an adorable couple! My vote? I’m with you Samme! (Thanks for figuring it out for me!) :)
I must be the invisible woman to you Samme, cause I can see my gown in 3 browsers and ~KES sees it too.

Hugs Martha. Come and don your gown and I will pin a corsage and an Oscar dela Renta brooch on you. Thank you for gracing us with your presence. Right now we’re playing Hollywood Squares, which one do you pick, do you pick the center square??
OMG (Oscar’s My Gaia) Ladybear, I must be Al Pacino in Scent Of A Woman because I opened up 4 browsers and still could not see your gown. Hmmm???
I’m alright, I’m alright folks, please continue the party.
My Red Carpet Attire… fun!
We get cool designer watches for gifts.
That’s fab Kathy.
The actual kids from the slums in Slumdog Millionaire are going to the Oscar’s.
Oooooh Samme, great story! I’m thrilled that the children will be there! I think I will tune in now and then just to see their faces as they ogle the silly Americans :-D
: ) Then just like in the movie the whole of India is watching the Oscar’s. LOL Tourists will not be able to get any service, no taxi, no nothing for a few hours while the Oscar’s is playing probably. I read something like this before that when the Indian tv production of Mahabharatha is on tv everybody watches. I am sure those kids are going to Disneyland as well.
Thanks Ariela.
S
OMG you’re totally right! This WILL be just like in the movie! I’m sure all those in India who can watch WILL! How very, very exciting. Life imitating art :-D
I’m already in my Oscar gown :-P
Cool Ariela
Samme
I found this and would like to add this here for me;
LOL, I applaud that :-D
Because you couldn’t see my dress, Samme…

Thanks to ~KES, she has dolled me up for my date with Mickey!
Can’t make up my mind what to wear. But there’s still time.

…or who to vote for.
Will be back!
Cheers, Samme!
Thank you Ariela. Is that from my favorite movie Citizen Kane? Love it.

Mila they are all wonderful. : )
Ladybear now that you have posted it a second time, I can see now the first one you posted. Amazing how I cannot see it yesterday. I love the colors and the gown.
Tomorrow is Oscar’s Day,
Samme
I love the dresses Mila… I choose the lavender one. *Ladybear~ is being escorted by my pic for best actor! Sean Penn may win for his portrayal of Harvey Milk. It

was a phenomenal movie with incredible acting. However, my guess is
that Mickey Rourke will win. I gotta tell you - he’s SO real and raw in every interview I’ve watched
I give Oscar to:
The Wrestler
Best Actor Mickey Rourke, The Wrestler
Kate although I love the others in their performances
Marissa & Josh for supporting
David Fincher, The Curious…
and I am sure Slumdog will take something for being good and low budget.
Thanks for the party Samme and for letting us know in Dreams of Artists.
After party? … Let’s make the rounds in our limo….
And that really is ~KES’ face in her scrumptious dress!

She’s a wizard with photo shop.
and WOW, is she filling it out perfectly too! ;-)
We’ve got the limo, Lee! Let’s do the rounds. ;-)
Ladybear, -KES and Sprite, you look simply ravishing in your gowns. After searching a long time, this is what I decided to wear.

I’m bringing along some champagne to toast the winners.
Here are my predictions:
Best Picture: Slumdog Millionaire
Best Director: Danny Boyle
Best Actor: Mickey Rourke
Best Actress: Kate Winslet
Best Supporting Actor: Heath Ledger
Best Supporting Actress: Marisa Tomei
Best Original Score: Slumdog Millionaire
No matter who wins, we’re going to have a great time!
Found this Oscar song list on Rolling Stone’s page.

Do you have a favorite Oscar song?
Hummm….Let me think…
My all time #1 would be THIS
Evergreen with Kris and Barbra!
With the Academy Awards going down this Sunday — the biggest night
in both Hollywood and Peter Travers’ living room — this week’s Rock
List is dedicated to the Best Original Song winners and nominees. We
include the nominees because way too many Disney and Celine Dion songs
have won in the past, so we needed to open the voting to great songs
that didn’t walk away with the Oscar. Comb through Wikipedia’s Best Original Song page
to help you out, come back and tell us your favorites, and on Monday
we’ll hand the Rock Daily Award to one lucky winner. Before you start
racking your brain about how Prince got completely snubbed with no Purple Rain nominations in 1984, check out our picks:
• 1999: Aimee Mann’s “Save Me” from Magnolia (Nominee)
• 1971: Isaac Hayes’ “Theme From Shaft” from Shaft (Winner)
• 1993: Bruce Springsteen’s “Streets of Philadelphia” from Philadelphia (Winner)
• 1973: Paul McCartney’s “Live & Let Die” from Live & Let Die (Nominee)
• 2002: Eminem’s “Lose Yourself” from 8 Mile (Winner)
And don’t forget to follow Travers’ continuing Oscar coverage in his blog, the Travers Take.
Here I am, all dolled up and ready to rock…yah-hoo.
I wanted to see “The Wrestler”, but never made it out. It totally looked like an ‘Oscar winner’….heard that he really bulked up for this performance of his.
I did however, see “Gran Trino”, with Clint Eastwood” and it moved me sooo much, that I couldn’t stop thinking about it for days on end.
Clint’s acting was Super, and the whole story line captivated me from beginning to end. The ending was heart felt and so beautifully stated!
Don’t mean to change the story line you got’s going, there Samme, it’s just that I haven’t made it out to the others you have listed, and after getting all dolled up for this occasion, I just had to step in and show of my magic wand:-)
Wow, guys, you put a lot into it!

I did not see all the pictures, I always love Sean Penn. I am so thrilled for Mickey for making a comeback and giving credit to his dogs!
I saw “The Reader”-I am a little tired of Winslet, but she was great in the picture.
I understand Marisi Tomei was slammed for having won the academy award for “My Cousin Vinny”, so if she wins this time, they cannot say anything. this year is very difficult. Angeline Jolie is always terrific, and so is Brad.
I am going with my husband, because he rocks.
My dress.
Thank you Lee for being here and glad to have befriended you.
Good job -KES’ in your picture and also Ladybear’s. That’s a great limo Lb.
Welcome Lenore and I love your gown as well. Just fabulous. Love your predictions.
Yes Ladybear that is another great conversation starter, the Oscar’s Songs. Thank you for bringing that up and mentioning my Prince.
Hugs Rita, thank you for your presence.
Hi Cindy please to meet your acquaintance.
I will be checking every now and then I am quite busy so please continue the party for me please. Thank you all,
Samme
I think I might sneak in at Prince’s Oscar Party too. Yahoo!!! : )

He told me, “Girrrrrrrrrrrrrlfriend, this ain’t the Grammy’s”
LOL LOL LOL :-D
Let’s all go in *Ladybears~ Limo. We are bringing Danny Boyle from Slumdog…
It was a bit challenging to find a date the last minute, but I finally convinced Daniel to go with me, even though he didn’t receive a nomination for his roles in Defiance or Quantum of Solace.

Oh Lenore, You know I’m in LoVe with Daniel, but Mickey was

so good this year, I had to go with him. I’m happy for you, he’s a major hunk.
The Limo company is providing some chocolate covered strawberries, Lee.
and Wolfgang will supply his chocolate Oscars…
Thank you Ladybear for arranging Wolfgang to cook for our party. It makes things easier. Okay everyone, group hug.
.
I am in this limo… for the friendship and the goodies..WOW..are we all having some fun? The sky is clearing up here in Hollywood.
~KES we could see you guys are ahead of us in line for the Burger King drive-thru. Robert must be hungry. Elton wants to have the king’s crown while I want to get the Prince’s crown. Fun, fun fun!!!! Today is the big day!
.
There will be Blood

Screw the Academy to leave this out..
Oh ~KES! I’m so happy you gave us the weather report cause it is pouring up here

and I was worried all our hairdo’s would get soaked!
Let’s leave the negativity out, dear ones.
Oscar is all about the party, red carpet, and AWARDS! Who else will show up at this year’s best party? Samme’s got it going on!
Slumdog wins Best Picture!!
Screw the Academy to leave this out..
Lars! You’re funny…That was LAST YEAR!!!
My faux pas was inexcusable, back to the Bat Cave, Jai ho :-)

There are no faux pas here Lars, stay for the party, only faux pearls and faux diamonds and faux furs.
Love the glitz… Samme… for you for putting us through the red carpet.
Thanks Samme & *Ladybear~ for the limo to this event of all events…
Thank you ~KES, I shine because of my friends like you, Ladybear and the all the rest. Thank you for making this a one of a kind Gaia Oscars Party. Love and blessings and glitz,
Samme
P.S. It’s almost here!!!!!! I am excited.
Thank you Lee!
Well, I’m running in for my 15 minutes of fame … and I’ll just wear a classic tux like this one.

Oh, and I stopped by Harry Winston to pick up an Emerald Ring. The store asked me to make sure Ladybear had this for Samme’s Oscar Party tonight. And Ladybear, please be sure to get that back to them … I couldn’t possibly afford this rock.
Oh … and lest I foget. What’s a party without some superior champagne. So, I’ve brought unlimited bubbly …
*hiccup*
Where are those faux pas pearls?
My Lala is ready for the red carpet.
YOWZERS!
Natalie Portman took my breath away in that pink chiffon!
and Sophia Loren!
I’m star struck!
Alright Satya John is here and you look fabulous. Alright Alright that is right this is the night for no faux pearls and no faux diamonds. Did the guy come in with the tux. LOL Welcome and John and Lala.
Yes Ladybear Natalie is fabulous.
I am so excited and star struck too.
Here’s my screen capture of Brangelina;
Here’s my tux! Hope everyone likes it!

A sort of faux tux, isn’t it? But I’m the real deal! Like Samuel and Bernie (but don’t forget Mr. Hayes)!
Yay Slumdog Millionaire for Best Adapted Screenplay!!!
Best Original Screenplay for MILK
Best Art Direction goes to The Cuious Case of Benjamin Button!
Best Costume Design goes to the movie The Duchess!
Best Makeup goes to The Cuious Case of Benjamin Button!
Best Cinematograhy for Slumdog Millionaire
Lets BREAK out the charity water too!!! :)
Nice to support this along with sharing a “little” champagne…huh?
http://www.charitywater.org/whywater/
Thank you Jane for raising awareness for Charity Water. Friends please take a look at how and what they do for the cause. Thank you,
Samme
The Musicals musical potion is awesome with Hugh Jackman, Beyonce, Zac Efron and Vanessa Hudgens. Hugh rocks!!!! And Beyonce is great!!!!
OMG, Heath Ledger for Best Supporting Actor and the ones accepting are his father, mother and sister.
Everyone is teary-eyed. Heath’s father and mother and sister gave a speech.
Congratulations!!!! Godspeed Heath!
Best Documentary goes to Man On Wire and Best Short Film goes to Small Pinki. I would like to take a note of that and watch it later.
I sooo loved the musical number; they said musicals are back, I hope they are right-they are awfully expensive to make.
Beautiful man Heath…
Sometimes I can see why people decide to leave this planet. Nights like these I can hardly stand to be in my own skin. The hippocracy is outrageous. It drives me insane at times. I am sorry but when Diet Coke which contains neurotoxins and the womens RED campaign joined together, in that commercial tonight, they make it look like it is a good thing. I about lost my dinner that I didn’t have. How can they say they are supporting women. What a crock. I hardly ever watch TV and am sorry I took a peek.
And I wonder how much money are spent on those dresses and yes that musical number. I thought it was BAD. Maybe I am picky. Sorry I just get fed up with people calling this kind of thing FUN. I was like GAG. Whats the purpose?? SOrry, hate to be a party pooper but I am so tired of this. Lots of great films but comon, where are our priorities??? No wonder we have such a bad global reputation.
Try inviting some of the people in Africa over for little hors de ovres at million dollar parties, or getting them some clean water…geezuz.
I am running for queen of the world I think with my 5 year old friend who knows how to spend her 50 cents better than these peeple. bzzt
Bullshit all bullshit. If we took all the money people used to watch worthless films we could feed the world 3 times over. God knows I am tryin to see the light here, but damn it is so dim…
But I love you Samme xo
Loved Phillip Petite’s magic for Man on a Wire!

Thanks for the bling, Brother John! I miss you!
XOX
Thank you Cindy, Janie and Ladybear.
Wow Danny Boyle won for Best Directing. I forgot to mention earlier that the Best Supporting Actress is Penelope Cruz for Vicki Cristina Barcelona.
Woooooohoooooooo SEAN PENN for BEST ACTOR!!!!!!!!!!! YAY!!!!
Kate Winslet for Best Actress!!!!
And Slumdog Millionaire won for Best Picture!!! Congratulations.
List of winners here.
Let the party continue. What are your favorite scenes???
{Hugs Janie…I feel ya…but let some money get into the hands of other people hopefully more charitable than the government…alot of them ARE helping Our Global Situation}
…And I’m happy Slumdog Millionaire won! =)
Thanks for the fun party, Samme!
I’m happy Sean won and was able to mention the important issues.
I’ll have to find a way to console my date, Mickey! ;-P
Beyonce’ was amazing as always, she is a class act.
I loved the way the previous winning actresses and actors came out in groups
to give kudos. Shirley MacLaine was awesome to Anne Hathaway.
and Robert DeNiro to Sean, was funny.
I enjoyed seeing everyone, esp Jerry Lewis and Sophia.
My fav dress is still going to Natalie Portman.
I hope to get to see all the documentaries. They all look amazing.
The full lengths and the shorts.
So that’s it from me, Goodnight everyone.
I have to go now to console my date.
It’s been alot of fun, great party, Samme!
Hugs from Ladybear XOXO
Oscar’s Quote (Oscar Wilde)
Keep up looking at the stars and help those in the gutter.
Just to peek in, say I was here–hiding behind the curtains! Enjoying the party, tho!
I would like to apologize for beeing quite a stingker or party pooper in the blog earlier. Sometimes the sadness on the planet sinks in too far and I forget about the good things, when life stings. So I am turning over a new leaf and trying to change a bit. No ones perfect, as Brain Johnson says :)
And BRAVO to Brad and Angelina for their foundation, Josh Groban for his, and all the others who are DEWING GOOD!
http://justjared.buzznet.com/2006/09/21/jolie-pitt-foundation/
And bee a changel and use natural products when you use sweetners please.

I just have to say that this is one of the most beautiful dresses I’ve ever seen, as worn by Marisa Tomei - it’s a pale violet Versace. Work it girl!

First of all I would like to thank God and whomever every religion prays to. I would like to thank my dad in heaven and my mom. I would like to thank Brian Johnson for starting Zaadz and unleashing potentials amongst us. I would like to thank the Zaadz/Gaia team past and present for without whom, we would not have this wonderful, beautiful and stable place to blog and to network on. I would like to thank all my friends and members of Gaia who inspires me everyday. I would like to thank Ladybear who was there from the beginning and now we are going on three years of our friendship. I would like to thank all those who participated in these one-of-a-kind party. I have already mentioned your names. I would like to mention the recent ones I haven’t mentioned yet starting from my previous post. Thank you Ariela, Ladybear, thank you Meenakshi (no need to be shy), thank you Janie (how about sending a letter to Josh and Brangelina with your contact info with your intention of helping out in their future charity by singing). And thank you John, this party is complete now with you. I do love your choice of praising Marisa’s gown as beautiful. It is!!! I would like to thank my mentors and my heros. I would like to thank myself for being a best friend to myself. Thank you all.
Samme
