BARBRA STREISAND KENNEDY CENTER TRIBUTE

Posted on Jan 1st, 2009 by Samme : Prince of Rainbows<3 Samme
Barbra_streisand_kennedy_center_tribute

Ladybear wrote me a kind note saying that Barbra Streisand is going to be given a tribute at the Kennedy Center on tv.  And what a wonderful way to wake up on a new year when Ladybear posted the links to Youtube on my grapevine.  Thank you very much Ladybear, our friendship has evolved here in Zaadz/Gaia.  : )

What a way to start the new year with this blog on one of my favorite "artist", Barbra Streisand.

On my grapevine, Ladybear thought that Beyonce is wonderful and so did I.  She gave a wonderful rendition of this song and she looked good also with her hairdo reminescent of Barbra's.  : )

Idina Menzel - Kennedy Center Honors 2008

Idina Menzel has a beautiful voice.  She is one of the cast in the movie version of RENT.  She did a duet with Ray Charles in his duets album.  Idina has not gotten the fame that she deserves.  I think she is underrated and one day she will get the worldwide acclaim and accolades.

I wish to see more of Barbra and her creative work this year and the years to come.

Chinese New Year begins on the second new moon after winter solstice. The year of the Ox begins on the new moon of January 26th, 2009 at 2:55 AM EST. Here on the West Coast, this new moon will be on January 25 at 11:55 PM PST. Oxen and all cattle are blessed by the compassionate Chinese goddess Quan Yin because of their gentle, peaceful nature. In Buddhism, the white Ox is symbolizes contemplation and wisdom. According to an ancient Taoist legend, we humans have a special relationship with Ox. In early agricultural communities, people often went for days without eating and feared starvation. To aid suffering humans, the gods and goddesses removed Ox from heaven, where she was a star, and sent her to earth. The divine ones instructed Ox to tell people that with her help they would avoid starvation and eat every three days. But Ox misunderstood and told humanity that they would eat three times a day. Ox had to make her words true, and that is why Ox must labor so hard and endure many burdens

Make A Room For Astronomy In Your Life

Posted on Jan 2nd, 2009 by Samme : Prince of Rainbows<3 Samme

I have informed people here in Gaia about the MIT OpenCourseWare on different occasions.  In the spirit of the year 2009 as the International Year of Astronomy, I would like to get people interested in a little bit of astronomy as a start.  MIT OpenCourseWare are free but non-degree granting.  If you would like to take advantage of a university calibre lesson plan then the MIT OpenCourseWare is for you.  Here is a list of their offerings in the field of astronomy;

The Solar System
This is an introduction to the study of the solar system with emphasis on the latest spacecraft results. The subject covers basic principles rather than detailed mathematical and physical models. Topics include: an overview of the solar system, planetary orbits, rings, planetary formation, meteorites, asteroids, comets, planetary surfaces and cratering, planetary interiors, planetary atmospheres, and life in the solar system.

Introduction To Astronomy
Introduction to Astronomy provides a quantitative introduction to the physics of the solar system, stars, the interstellar medium, the galaxy, and the universe, as determined from a variety of astronomical observations and models.

Hands-On Astronomy:  Observing Stars and Planets

This class introduces the student to the use of small telescopes, either for formal research or as a hobby.

This course covers background for and techniques of visual observation, electronic imaging, and spectroscopy of the Moon, planets, satellites, stars, and brighter deep-space objects. Weekly outdoor observing sessions using 8-inch diameter telescopes when weather permits. Indoor sessions introduce needed skills. Introduction to contemporary observational astronomy including astronomical computing, image and data processing, and how astronomers work. Student must maintain a careful and complete written log which is graded.

These courses have lecture notes, quizzes, syllabus, reading materials, etc for you to print or download.  You can study at your own pace.

Dr. Deepak Chopra Advises President Obama How To Achieve Peace

Posted on Jan 2nd, 2009 by Samme : Prince of Rainbows<3 Samme
These are the key points in what Dr. Deepak Chopra wants to advise President Obama on how to achieve peace;

1. Scale out arms dealing and make it illegal by the year 2020.

2. Write into every defense contract a requirement for a peacetime project.

3. Subsidize conversion of military companies to peaceful uses with tax incentives and direct funding.

4. Convert military bases to housing for the poor.

5. Phase out all foreign military bases.

6. Require military personnel to devote part of their time to rebuilding infrastructure.

7. Call a moratorium on future weapons technologies.

8. Reduce armaments like destroyers and submarines that have no use against terrorism and were intended to defend against a superpower enemy that no longer exists.

9. Fully fund social services and take the balance out of the defense and homeland security budgets.

THINKING OUTSIDE THE BLOG: CAN CULTURE CHANGE ANYTHING?

Posted on Jan 4th, 2009 by Samme : Prince of Rainbows<3 Samme

This is like a brainstorming blog, thinking outside the blog, if you will.  The words "global thinking" came to mind and I googled it and did a research.  Then I came upon the word "culture" which I think will play a necessary part for world transformation.  I invite you to think outside the blog with me.

GLOBAL THINKING
A Call To Reinvestment in Sacred Values

The Art of Global Thinking by Donald Cyr

Paulo Coelho, bestselling author of The Alchemist, Veronika Decides to Die (which was turned into a motion picture starring Sarah Michelle Gellar), and other books.  He has a Youtube account and upload videos of him talking about his books and also asking viewers questions such as this one, Can culture change anything?

Can culture change anything?

My answer to this is a resounding YES!  Culture can change anything but there must be a revival of culture without which change is not going to happen in ways that culture can affect or effect change.  Each nation and its citizens must treasure and propagate their own culture and also learn and respect other people's or nation's culture to broaden one's horizons to foster peace and mutual understanding.  Each individual must look back first from their history and look within and place themselves in the context of their culture.  This must be done first instead of looking outward first to let's say for example, looking towards the Western culture because a lot of people think that western culture is rich, hip and technologically advanced.  There must be a marriage of the heart and mind then you will be in touch with your soul or the collective soul of your people and the world.  Most of the wars and misunderstandings in the world stem from culture or has its roots in culture.  The culture of greed, culture of tyranny and oppression, culture of hatred and intolerance, culture of war and violence can be overturned by culture of peace.  All "culture" can pave the way to peace.  We must allow ourselves to express our "culture of peace" and allow others to express their own culture.  Fear and discrimination will be melted by tolerance, compassion and love towards self, family, neighborhood, community, nation and the world for what we all are is a global citizen.

Wish me luck!!!  I will invite Paulo Coelho to join us here at our beloved

The Magic of Helping
Children be Creative

By Glenn R. Horton
Founder of Artists Helping Artists (AHA!)
and Publisher of The Creative Line Magazine

1) Actively recognize and respect that the child possesses an imagination and remarkable creative potential.

2) With the child, seek to understand and discover the beauty and  fascination of places, creatures and things in the child’s vicinity.

3) Help the child develop and freely express his sense of creative magic and wonder.

4) Discourage those who would tell the child the things he/she imagines are not real, or his dreams (whatever they are) are not valuable or attainable.

5) Encourage and help the child to understand the important role of creative thought and dreams in building new & exciting futures.

Blue Radiometer6) Never degrade or ridicule, overtly or covertly, the creative thoughts, dreams or illusions of the child.

7) Assist the child to experience formal art forms including music, visual art, poetry, singing, acting, etc., as well as other creative activities such as games, crafts, hobbies, sports and scouts.

8) Protect and defend the child’s artistic spirit, imagination and sense of wonder from anyone who would seek to stop, harm or destroy these.

9) In your daily activities, including hobbies, play and work, foster a spirit of excitement and wonder, and show the child that creativity plays a vital and healing role in life.

10) Encourage and assist the child to pursue his creative passions, execute his creative ideas and make his dreams a reality.

or these

http://www.playlibrary.com/wp-content/uploads/2008/01/roller-skates.jpg

Me I prefer to have the latter.  So pick your shoes make sure you have the right size
and be comfy and we are going roller skating to Gaza.

Music, we got to have music, how about these from Barbs and Donna Summer??

No More Tears (Enough Is Enough) - Streisand & Summer

We should be rolling gayly along the Strip with that music.
I think the U.S. military planes should fly over Gaza Strip and drop
thousands and thousands of roller skates.
Make it the four wheeler kind to start them off with.  Kids, men, women and
everybody will have fun, Palestinians and Israelis alike.
I was thinking they should be given computer and internet access
and have them surf online and on Gaia but that gets kind of expensive.
So roller skates will do.  It is cheaper and will provide fun for everyone.
Oh yeah, I looked up the Gaza Strip at Google Earth and find it an awesome
and beautiful place.  What are they doing with that long stretch of beach???
Oh my goodness it can be a tourism industry.  Have them approve tourist visas for
beachcombers and that place will be rocking.
Any more people roller skating with us??
Let's have more music from the
Earth, Wind and Fire.

SHOWER THE PEOPLE WITH LOVE NOT WITH HATRED OR BOMBS

Posted on Jan 7th, 2009 by Samme : Prince of Rainbows<3 Samme
Dove_peace_flag

WAIT, please do not run away for cover if you see bible verses, read on...,

Galatians 3:6-9 TNIV

6 So also Abraham "believed God, and it was credited to him as righteousness." [a]

7 Understand, then, that those who have faith are children of Abraham. 8
Scripture foresaw that God would justify the Gentiles by faith, and
announced the gospel in advance to Abraham: "All nations will be
blessed through you." [b] 9 So those who rely on faith are blessed along with Abraham, the man of faith.

faith  (fth)

n.
1. Confident belief in the truth, value, or trustworthiness of a person, idea, or thing.
2. Belief that does not rest on logical proof or material evidence. See Synonyms at belief, trust.
3. Loyalty to a person or thing; allegiance: keeping faith with one's supporters.
4. often Faith Christianity The theological virtue defined as secure belief in God and a trusting acceptance of God's will.
5. The body of dogma of a religion: the Muslim faith.
6. A set of principles or beliefs.

So if that is the definition of faith then we all have faith.  The bible verse is speaking about Christians, Jews, Muslims, Hindus, Protestants, Baptists, Buddhists, etc. for each sect has a "faith" in God or a higher power.  Thus they are all, we are all children of Abraham according to that book.  Even the aetheists have "faith".  They have a confident belief in the truth, value, or trustworthiness of (not a person) an idea, they have faith that there is no God and that faith according to definition number 2 is a "belief that does not rest on logical proof or material evidence".  In short all people of all religions, spiritualities, sects, philosophies and even aetheists, all have faith.  So in effect for those who follow this book, they should recognize ALL as sons and daughters of Abraham.

Father Abraham

And do not let anybody suffer, do not let the children suffer.  We are all the children.

MATTHEW 19:14

International Standard Version (©2008)
Jesus,
however, said, "Let the little children come to me, and stop keeping
them away, because the kingdom of heaven belongs to people like these."

New American Standard Bible (©1995)
But
Jesus said, "Let the children alone, and do not hinder them from coming
to Me; for the kingdom of heaven belongs to such as these."

GOD'S WORD® Translation (©1995)
Jesus said, "Don't stop children from coming to me! Children like these are part of the kingdom of God."

King James Bible
But Jesus said, Suffer little children, and forbid them not, to come unto me: for of such is the kingdom of heaven.

American King James Version
But Jesus said, Suffer little children, and forbid them not, to come to me: for of such is the kingdom of heaven.

American Standard Version
But Jesus said, Suffer the little children, and forbid them not, to come unto me: for to such belongeth the kingdom of heaven.

Bible in Basic English
But Jesus said, Let the little ones come to me, and do not keep them away: for of such is the kingdom of heaven.

Douay-Rheims Bible
But Jesus said to them: Suffer the little children, and forbid them not to come to me: for the kingdom of heaven is for such.

Darby Bible Translation
But Jesus said, Suffer little children, and do not hinder them from coming to me; for the kingdom of the heavens is of such:

English Revised Version
But Jesus said, Suffer the little children, and forbid them not, to come unto me: for of such is the kingdom of heaven.

Webster's Bible Translation
But Jesus said, Suffer little children, and forbid them not to come to me: for of such is the kingdom of heaven.

Weymouth New Testament
Jesus
however said, "Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder
them; for it is to those who are childlike that the Kingdom of the
Heavens belongs."

World English Bible
But
Jesus said, "Allow the little children, and don't forbid them to come
to me; for the Kingdom of Heaven belongs to ones like these."

Young's Literal Translation
But Jesus said, 'Suffer the children, and forbid them not, to come unto me, for of such is the reign of the heavens;'

Any books especially holy books with a faulty translation in the wrong hands can be literally dangerous, lethally dangerous.

Do not suffer the children.  Do not let the children suffer.

Aesthetic Peace

Rug weavers from Islamic lands intentionally weave a patch of
dissimilar pattern to break the symmetry of their rugs honoring their
belief that only Allah creates perfection. Instead of seeing Israel as
a blemish in the Islamic rug spreading across North Africa and the
Middle East, Israel needs a to be seen as counter-pattern affirming
Allah’s will.

Peace requires a fresh aesthetic metaphor that
symbolizes the fulfillment of Mohammed’s prophecy in the Koran (Sura
17:104): “And we said to the Children of Israel, ‘scatter and live all
over the world’…and when the end of the world is near we will gather
you again into the Promised Land.”

And we all have scattered all over the world and we are all one.  So those who follow this other book should recognize everyone as brothers and sisters for according to that book we will all be gathered again into the Promised Land.

“Remember when Moses said to his people: ‘O my people, call in

you, made you kings, and gave to you what He had not given to any other
among the people. O my people, enter the Holy Land which God has

HEY GAIANS THIS IS A FIRST IN ASTRONOMY SOMETHING THIS BIG

Posted on Jan 8th, 2009 by Samme : Prince of Rainbows<3 Samme
Hello friends as you may have read in my previous blogs that this year 2009 is the International Year of Astronomy.  And what a blast of a news story that is upon us that was discovered or rather detected in faraway outer space.  Astronomers, astrophysicists and scientists detected a loud roar!!!  What could this be??  I have been volunteering at the SETI (Search For Extraterrestial Intelligence).  SETI@home is a scientific experiment that uses Internet-connected computers in the Search for Extraterrestrial Intelligence (SETI). You can participate by running a free program that downloads and analyzes radio telescope data.  I wonder if life in outer space is yelling, "STOP THE KILLINGS!!!"

Mystery Roar from Faraway Space Detected

LONG BEACH, Calif. -- Space is typically thought of as a very quiet place. But one team of astronomers has found a strange cosmic noise that booms six times louder than expected.

The roar is from the distant cosmos. Nobody knows what causes it.

Of course, sound waves can't travel in a vacuum (which is what most of space is), or at least they  can't very efficiently. But radio waves can.

Radio waves are not sound waves, but they are still electromagnetic waves, situated on the low-frequency end of the light spectrum.

Many objects in the universe, including stars and quasars, emit radio waves. Even our home galaxy, the Milky Way, emits a static hiss (first detected in 1931 by physicist Karl Jansky). Other galaxies also send out a background radio hiss.

But the newly detected signal, described here today at the 213th meeting of the American Astronomical Society, is far louder than astronomers expected.

There is "something new and interesting going on in the universe," said Alan Kogut of NASA's Goddard Space Flight Center in Greenbelt, Md.

A team led by Kogut detected the signal with a balloon-borne instrument named ARCADE (Absolute Radiometer for Cosmology, Astrophysics, and Diffuse Emission).

In July 2006, the instrument was launched from NASA's Columbia Scientific Balloon Facility in Palestine, Texas, and reached an altitude of about 120,000 feet (36,500 meters), where the atmosphere thins into the vacuum of space.

ARCADE's mission was to search the sky for faint signs of heat from the first generation of stars, but instead they heard a roar from the distant reaches of the universe.

"The universe really threw us a curve," Kogut said. "Instead of the faint signal we hoped to find, here was this booming noise six times louder than anyone had predicted."

Detailed analysis of the signal ruled out primordial stars or any known radio sources, including gas in the outermost halo of our own galaxy.

Other radio galaxies also can't account for the noise – there just aren't enough of them.

"You'd have to pack them into the universe like sardines," said study team member Dale Fixsen of the University of Maryland. "There wouldn't be any space left between one galaxy and the next."

The signal is measured to be six times brighter than the combined emission of all known radio sources in the universe.

For now, the origin of the signal remains a mystery.

"We really don't know what it is,"said team member Michael Seiffert of NASA's Jet Propulsion Laboratory in Pasadena, Calif.

And not only has it presented astronomers with a new puzzle, it is obscuring the sought-for signal from the earliest stars. But the cosmic static may itself provide important clues to the development of galaxies when the universe was much younger, less than half its present age. Because the radio waves come from far away, traveling at the speed of light, they therefore represent an earlier time in the universe.

"This is what makes science so exciting," Seiffert said. "You start out on a path to measure something – in this case, the heat from the very first stars – but run into something else entirely, some unexplained."

SOMEONE'S WAITING TO LOVE YOU

Posted on Jan 8th, 2009 by Samme : Prince of Rainbows<3 Samme

Facts of life

At least two people in this world love you so much they would die for you.

At least fifteen people in this world love you in some way.

The only reason anyone would ever hate you is because they want to be just like you.

A smile from you can bring happiness to anyone, even if they don't like you.

Every night, SOMEONE thinks about you before they go to sleep.

You mean the world to someone.

If not for you, someone may not be living.

You are special and unique.

There is someone that you don't even know exists, who loves you.

When you make the biggest mistake ever, something good comes from it.

When you think the world has turned its back on you, take a look: you most likely

turned your back on the world.

When you think you have no chance of getting what you want, you probably won't get it, but if you believe in yourself, probably, sooner or later, you will get it.

Always remember the compliments you received. Forget about the rude remarks.

Always tell someone how you feel about them; you will feel much better when they know.

If you have a great friend, take the time to let them know that they are great.

Where do you find the sacred in your life?

Posted on Jan 9th, 2009 by Samme : Prince of Rainbows<3 Samme
This is in Response to the Questions and Reflections for January 07, 2009:

inside of me

"as within, so without"

there is nothing inside
there is nothing outside
for which is inside
is outside.

no thing is nothing
nothing is no thing
some things are nothing
nothing is something.

I push and shove
at the paddle in hand
not knowing
where I am going to land.
I push and shove
at the thoughts
in my mind
not knowing
what I am going to find.
I stopped paddling.
I stopped thinking.
The boat and I
are one.

Buddhadharma.

Buddhism, Buddhist thought and philosophy has given me gentleness and strength.  I read a lot on the topic and the history but still I have lots to learn more.  But I am happy with my journey and incorporating Buddhism in my life.  Buddhism is still in my heart and this year I am delving deeper into Sufism and Kabbalah both mysticism offsprings of Islam and Judaism respectively.  I am choosing to take this road on my own and not going to be swayed by what others have to say negative about it.

ENLIGHTENED COURAGE:
An Explanation of the
Seven-Point Mind Training

by Dilgo Khyentse Rinpoche

Dharma Quote of the Week

Voidness is the unsurpassed protection;
Thereby illusory appearance is seen as the four kayas.

Sufferings related to the universe and its inhabitants are the result of false perceptions, the nature of which it is important to understand. Emotions, such as attachment, anger and ignorance are all creations of the mind. We think, for instance, of our body as a precious possession of which we must take special care, protecting it from illness and every kind of mishap. We get into this habit of thinking and, as a consequence, begin to suffer mentally as well as physically. This is an example of perception which, since it is devoid of any basis in reality, is called deluded; it depends upon the belief in the existence of something which does not exist at all. It is just as when we dream and think that we are being burned or drowned, only to discover, when we wake up, that nothing has happened.

...Although everything is by nature empty, this emptiness is not the mere vacuity of empty space or an empty vessel. Happiness, sufferings, all sorts of feelings and perceptions appear endlessly like reflected images in the mind. This reflection-like appearance of phenomena is called the Nirmanakaya.

HAPPY UNIFICATION DAY, NEPAL!  JANUARY 11

Unification of Nepal and the establishment of a united Kingdom of Nepal

After his conquest of the Kathmandu Valley, Prithvi Narayan Shah conquered other smaller countries south of the valley to keep other smaller fiefdoms near his Gurkha state out of the influence and control of the British rule. After his kingdom spread out from north to south, he made Kantipur the capital of expanded country, and renamed it Nepal from its original name of Gorkha. After this he turned his attention towards the east. The Sena kingdom of Choudandi was conquered by 1773 A.D. and Vijaypur, another Sena kingdom, was annexed shortly thereafter. Prithvi Narayan Shah formally established Nepal as a country and the Kingdom of Nepal was officially born in 1769 AD.

Implications of unification

Had Prithvi Narayan Shah not established the Kingdom of Nepal, it is likely that the smaller and weaker nation states would have come under the control of the British Empire, whose influence was increasing in India at the time. If the British Indian army had not been stopped and defeated at Makawanpurgadhi-Sindhuligadhi, Nepal would not have been born as a country, and the Nepalese would not be known as an independent political entity, a people separate from India. The majority of credit for preventing these outcomes goes to Prithvi Narayan Shah. Some historians of questionable intent calls Prithivi Narayan Shah as the Great in Nepal. However, this history written by the conquered leaves out the critical detail; that the conquered people thought and still think that this event was nothing but a glorified version of internal colonization practiced by Shah dynasty over almost all of the Nepalese people.

HAZRAT INAYAT KHAN'S TEACHINGS ON MUSIC AND SPIRITUALITY

Posted on Jan 10th, 2009 by Samme : Prince of Rainbows<3 Samme
Hazrat_inayat_khan

The Music Of Life

“When one transcends
Christianity, Judaism or Islam,
there one finds Music”

~ Hazrat Inayat Khan

Here is what the back cover describes/quotes:

“The mystery of sound is mysticism; the harmony of life is religion. The knowledge of vibrations is metaphysics, the analysis of atoms is science, and their harmonious grouping is art. The rhythm of form is poetry, and the rhythm of sound is music. This shows that music is the art of arts and the science of all sciences; and it contains the fountain of all knowledge within itself.”

Music should be healing; music should uplift the soul; music should inspire. There is no better way of getting closer to God, of rising higher towards the spirit, of attaining spiritual perfection than music, if only it is rightly understood.”

The Music of Life is the definitive collection of Hazrat Inayat Khan's teachings on sound, presenting the Sufi master's vision of the harmony which underlies and infuses every aspect of our lives. With deep insight and wisdom, he explores the science of breath, the law of rhythm, the creative process, and both the healing power and psychological influence of music and sound.

“What makes us feel drawn to music is that our whoIe being is music; our mind and our body, the nature in which we live, the nature that has made us, all that is beneath and around us, it is all music. We are close to all this music, and live and move and have our being in music.”

Hazrat Inayat Khan on the Spirituality of Music

Khan portrait

Shakuntala, ballet, music written by Sufi Hazrat Inayat Khan

This is no longer part of Hazrat Inayat Khan's teachings but I would love to include this here;

DNARecently, the original sound frequencies used in Gregorian Chants sung by ancient Monks to St. John the Baptist were found by Dr. Leonard Horowitz while researching his book “Healing Codes for the Biological Apocalypse”.  The Monks chanted to a peculiar scale was said to manifest great miracles and bring the Monks closer to God.

The reason the frequencies were lost are not clear.  It appears that sometime about 800 years ago the original Solfeggio Frequencies were replaced with the scale you know today by the Pope.   An additional note was added and the frequencies were changed slightly (the 'C' note you hear on a piano differs from the original frequency by about 32 Hz).

Albert Einstein said that all matter is nothing more than vibration of energy.  That matter that you can see and feel simply has its vibration set to a frequency that you can sense.  So, it stands to reason that, if all matter is vibrational then God resonates through all things on His own vibrational frequency.  It seems likely that if an individual could get his own cell structure vibrating on the same frequency as God, he could then commune with God more easily.

People who have listened to these frequencies report intense feelings of peace, calm and physical strength combined with an abundance of almost child-like energy.

I have personally listened to a chant called 'Holy Harmony' which employs all 6 of the individual frequencies mixed with a beautiful and melodious chant of “Yod Heh Shin Vav Heh” (which is the Hebrew name of Jesus Christ).  I can say that my energy levels have increased, my mind is clearer and my Restless Leg Syndrome has disappeared.

Rather than the Do, Re, Mi, Fa, Sol, La, Ti that you know, the Monks chanted to the six Solfeggio Frequencies - which are;

DEAR ISRAEL. DEAR PALESTINE. ~ AN OPEN LETTER TO THE MIDDLE EAST

Posted on Jan 11th, 2009 by Samme : Prince of Rainbows<3 Samme

Dear Israel, Dear Palestine:

First, please know that I am not siding on anyone between Israel and Palestine.  I am not discounting the deaths and the terror suffered by the one who seems to be on the losing side.  I am not condoning the actions of the one on the offensive side nor do I want to mention who is on the offensive as that can turn any minute and the point of view of the world will change. I am on the side of peace.

I say Dear Israel because I want to apologize for the holocaust.  It was a terrible time in history and I still apologize for the history of your people prior to that and at the present.   But are we living for the past?  Are we fighting for the future?  We can only live for the present and we can all choose to live in harmony with everyone and then we will know inner peace.

I say Dear Palestine because I want to apologize for the offenses made to your religion and to your people.  I am neither Israeli nor Palestinian but I see you both as my brothers and sisters.  You may not care about me for you may think I do not feel the sufferings that your people and your ancestors suffered.  But I am suffering too as well as the rest of the world.

I forgive you all and please forgive us too.  You may think we do not care about you.  We are human and we are not perfect.  We care about you and what happen to your people.  We just don't know what to do anymore.  We are afraid as all of you are afraid.  But we can turn fear into love and understanding and eventually peace for all.

This does not take a long time.  Peace can happen instantaneously.  It can happen here and now wherever you are.  And if peace happens with each individual then the world will know world peace.  It is as simple as that no matter what your language, religion, national affiliation, political views or educational background.

Let us make our ancestors proud by laying down our arms and our hatred and our indifferences towards one another.  Our ancestors are not happy with the notion that we are fighting for them nor are our own people who are living are not happy that we are killing our brothers and sisters so that our own "kind" may live.  There is only humankind and that is all of us.

Dear Israel.  Dear Palestine.  We would like to reach our hands to you in friendship.  We care about your own people for we are all one.  Give us a chance to understand and love you and cease the fighting before we annihilate all of humankind.

I do not need to know your language.  I do not need to study your history extensively.  I do not need to convert to your religion.  Nor do I expect of those of you to mine.  There is only one thing that I understand and one that we can all agree on.  And that is if we love one another and live in peace.  Plain and simple.  I do not need to elaborate on that.  We can all understand and know the feeling if we are giving and living and getting love and peace.  Let's all choose peace now.

Salam Israel.

Shalom Palestine.

Peace to all.

Do you believe there is value in suffering?

This is in Response to the Questions and Reflections for January 11, 2009:

http://focus.aps.org/files/focus/v22/st5/coal_diamond.jpg

There is a Sufi story where God asked a piece of coal why it was black. The coal replied, "Because I have absorbed all the darkness of the world." God then asked, "What will you become?" The coal replied, "Under ever greater pressure, I will become a diamond!" The metaphor for that parable is that a chunk of coal is a diamond that made good under pressure to become more of what it is.

Rumi on suffering

Whatever the blow that arrives from heaven
Wait to receive a robe of honor afterwards:
He is not a King who thrashes you and then
Does not give you a crown and a throne to rest on.
The world is worth less than the eye of a mosquito,
Yet for a single blow there is infinite reward:
Take from your neck now the world's golden collar,
Receive with no protection the blows God sends.
Didn't the Prophets receive blows on their necks?
That pain is what forced them to hold their heads high.
Never abandon your innermost core even a moment
so the Beloved will always find you at home.
Otherwise, He'll remove His robe of honor and say,
"I came to see him Myself, and found no one in."

January 10, 2009 full moon (Wolf Moon), the biggest full moon for the year

MOONLIGHT SONATA (Beethoven)

From the multiplicity of colours, he says, there is a way to the colourless.

Colour is like the clouds, colourless is like the moon.

All the light and splendour you see in the clouds, know that it comes from the stars,
the moon and the sun.

From the heart-mirror the reflection shines back.

The heart is with God or rather the heart is God

Escape from mere scent and colour.  The polished heart transforms everything,

Those who have polished their heart do not fear death; they receive the very vision of God.

The Moon Cannot Be Stolen

Ryokan, a Zen master, lived the simplest kind of life in a little hut at the foot of a mountain. One evening a thief visited the hut only to discover there was nothing in it to steal. Ryokan returned and caught him. ‘You may have come a long way to visit me,’ he told the prowler, ‘and you should not return empty-handed. Please take my clothes as a gift.’ The thief was bewildered. He took the clothes and slunk away. Ryokan sat naked, watching the moon. ‘Poor fellow,’ he mused, ‘I wish I could give him this beautiful moon.’

If you had to pick another religion to practice, what would it be

Posted on Jan 12th, 2009 by Samme : Prince of Rainbows<3 Samme
This is in Response to the Questions and Reflections for January 12, 2009:

Well I grew up Catholic, followed Buddhism, read up on Hinduism, Judaism, Kabbalah and Sufi.

If I had to pick another religion to practice, I already mentioned it in my previous blogs, it would be Sufism.  Buddhism is still strongly with me in my heart.  I just want to go deeper into Sufism this year and see what will I find.  I love all the ones I mentioned.  I am a contradiction to myself and I mean that as a good thing.

In my world these and other religions coexist.  I listen to my self and my intuition.  I apply what is loving and peaceful and what works for me.  There are many paths leading to the one.  Actually these are just all names and the different deities are just traditions inherent in one's culture.  I embrace all spirituality and I believe that we are on the verge of a new paradigm, an ascension of our consciousness.

I am love,

Samme

FOR THE LOVE OF CLASSICAL GUITAR MUSIC: ANDRES SEGOVIA

Posted on Jan 12th, 2009 by Samme : Prince of Rainbows<3 Samme

Andrés Torres Segovia, 1st Marquess of Salobreña
(21 February 1893–2 June 1987) was a Spanish classical guitarist born in Linares, Jaén, Spain. He is widely regarded as one of the most important figures of the classical guitar in the beginning and mid 20th century. He was to become the father of the classical guitar movement. Segovia's main musical aesthetic preferences were Spanish romantic and Spanish nationalist music of the late 19th and early 20th century - a style different from flamenco. Many works of this style were written especially for him and formed part of his core repertoire, e.g. the guitar works of Federico Moreno Torroba (1891-1982).

Support the DREAM Act

http://fairimmigration.files.wordpress.com/2008/07/dream-act1.jpg

You are invited to join Support the DREAM Act!!! Please VOTE!.

The cultivator of this group has written this introduction:

Pass the DREAM Act - Support Higher Education for All Students

The problem:
Many American students graduate from college and high school each year, and face a roadblock to their dreams: they can't drive, can't work legally, can't further their education, and can't pay taxes to contribute to the economy just because they were brought to this country illegally by their parents or lost legal status along the way. It is a classic case of lost potential and broken dreams, and the permanent underclass of youth it creates is detrimental to our economy. Former Republican Sen. Orrin Hatch has said: “In short, although these children have built their lives here, they have no possibility of achieving and living the American dream. What a tremendous loss for them, and what a tremendous loss to our society.”

The solution:
The federal DREAM Act (Development, Relief, and Education for Alien Minors Act), is a bipartisan legislation that would permit these students conditional legal status and eventual citizenship granted that they meet ALL the following requirements:

–if they were brought to the United States before they turned 16, are below the age of 30,
–have lived here continuously for five years,
–graduated from a U.S.
high school or obtained a GED
–have good moral character with no criminal record and
–attend college or enlist in the military.

Why should you care?
There is no other pathway to citizenship for these students.  Besides the injustice of punishing children for the alleged transgressions of their parents, throwing away the talent we have invested in from K-12 and accruing losses in human and financial capital by deporting talented students is bad public policy. The Social Security Administration has recently stated that we need a net increase of 100,000 immigrants each year to ensure Social Security solvency.

Passing the DREAM Act would actually help solve the Social Security crisis by creating a larger taxable base of educated Americans that are already in the United States. It would also free some of the backlog that currently plagues the legal immigration system. Also, the DREAM Act in its latest form, does not grant in-state tuition to any student.

Endorsements: Since 2001, almost a 1000 organizations have officially endorsed the bill.  Barack Obama has stated that DREAM Act beneficiaries are “American children for all intents and purposes” and has called this a top priority.

Tell President-Elect Obama to pass the DREAM Act in 2009.

LIVE CAM @ GAZA

Posted on Jan 14th, 2009 by Samme : Prince of Rainbows<3 Samme
Gaza
(screen capture of the Live Web Cam on Windows Media Player)

I don't know until when are they gonna have this running but this is the
LIVE CAM AT GAZA.  It opens in Windows Media Player.  Sometimes it goes on and off.  I think this is quite something and I commend the one who put this up.  Simple technological marvel.

I have this crazy idea for a satellite telescope to be aim at a certain trouble spot on earth for human rights watch like in Gaza at the moment.  Of course this is a privacy issue but I am imagining the United Nations will implement such an idea and have all the nations sign the treaty.  People of the world will get to vote online on where they want to focus the powerful satellite telescope at trouble spots on earth on the news.  They will get to view the livecam online.

For those peace intention experimenters on sending energy and such you can look at the live cam and send energies of peace and healing to Gaza.  You can direct your palm to the screen.  Some do not even need this and just pray and affirm on their own.  This is good for visualization exercise for sending peace and healing.

Namaste,

Samme
