Where Have All The Flowers Gone?

As some of you may have noticed, the images in the grapevines that your friends lovingly put there for you are no longer there. Where have all the flowers gone? And it is not just the flowers but the sparkling images, chocolates, cup of coffees, hearts, rainbows, you name it and when I tried it you cannot do a scrolling marquee either.
*Ladybear~ posted a query at the Gaia Support blog and at this writing it has not been answered yet. You can view it here
http://pods.gaia.com/gaia_support/discussions/view/325211.
Would you rather have those gone and not be able to post things like that and HTML or would you like to have a freedom of expression and creativity here in Gaia?
This is a time for courage of expressions and courage for creativity.

Help

I loved being able to share an image, a flower, a truffle, a treat, a dragonfly with glitter flowing out … and the coffee !!!! I hope gaia will let us know what happened and will return our ability to do this …
Has anyone noticed if we can still post videos from You Tube in the grapevines? I'm on my way to experiment …
Thank you Samme for posting this blog! I think you and Sherlock Holmes must be distant cousins … :))
back to report that we cannot post videos on our grapevines … I really regret this as you know Samme, we have had some amazing sharing of vids back and forth … I hope GAIA returns this magical embedding process for all of us!!!
In the meantime, this is the video that I was trying to share with Ladybear on her grapevine!!!
Yes it is true that at this time we cannot post images, do a scrolling marquee, or embed Youtube videos.
as you said peri:
I hope GAIA returns this magical embedding process for all of us!!!
I do hope so, I do hope so!
let's see what happens when they get to the office… still really early in Boulder…
What bothers me even more is the way there's no communication to the community about these changes. Just poof! something is gone with no explantion or heads up.
Feeling like a kid whose been spanked and her toys taken away….
And Peri, don't forget the shoes!!!!
I am holding my breath. Boulder, tick-tock!
I remember yesterday I was posting a response to the Lounge and Poof the Gaia
Flower appeared and said “we'll be back up in a minute”.
I think it was then, mid day, that they all disappeared.
I want them to return, but in the big picture, it doesn't really matter.
I enjoy the small ones, but the larger ones sometimes get to be overwhelming.
Personally, I DO NOT want this network to evolve into the visual chaos of myspace.
That is overkill.
IMO Gaia should be kept free from the visual insanity of that.
We'll see what the team says.
I'm fine with what ever their decision is. I like the fairies, but it's not life and death.
If it is permanent, a heads up would of been nice. but it might just be a fluke.
Ya gotta just roll with it
Thanks for the blog, Samme.
I too saw Ladybear's post…and thought…naaaaahhh….just a glitchy-poo, it'll be gone by the time I log into Gaia. Still haven't tried it, but I can see from these comments that it's still up in the air.
I agree that we shouldn't look like MySpace…but we've never de-evolved into that purely graphic thingy…we still post sentences and thoughts and poetry and well-wishes and Greetings…sigh.
It was definitely a pleasant addition when we discovered it, the CHOICE was niiiiiice.
It was so cute to add a real smiley hug instead of typing ((hugggg)) :-D
That was the next best thing to a real hug. I would soooo miss receiving them too.
Awww…shucks…just when I was told by a Gaia member that her little daughter looked forward to seeing what cute pic or smiley I had posted on my status line for the day.
See what you're doing, Gaia? You're letting the children down! :-D
(us 'grownup' children too, LOL)
Ladybear, I agree same with me, I just gotta roll with it. This too shall pass. But I wonder if they will refund me my Gaia Plus subscription? I have already taken my membership out of The Spiritual Cinema.
I'm one of the few who didn't post those images (wanted to, but never quite figured it out).
I thought they were cool/fun as long as they weren't super huge and people didn't post the same one repeatedly in their status line.
I do think that Gaia should have let us know before removing that option…
Hi Ariela, still waiting here for the real verdict before I continue further. Thank you.
Why would you want to refund your Plus subcription, Samme?
it has nothing to do with posting grapevines and it will bring back all the ads. I LOVE having Gaia +
Hi Lisa, that's what I thought that the Gaia community have already instilled upon the Gaia team that they/us would like to be notified of changes or that Gaia should let us know before removing or changing any features or options. But again, I am still waiting for the real verdict as they have not spoken yet or given their side. Thank you.
Jodi just responded.

I have responded, have linked the discussion to the ongoing discussion in the Ambassadors group about consulting, and am linking to this blog.

thank you Nicole, at this time I have two tabs open, one with this blog and the other from the Gaia Suppose Pod
I meant “Support”
well done Samme! looks like you have got them working on a compromise
and that's pretty funny - suppose! :) you're the best
I didn't do it 'cause I didn't know how. I enjoyed the fun loving visual messages I received. Thank you muchly to my visual friends. I am soooo lost on myspace. It is an acid trip of swirling colors and loud music and I just about go into cat-atonics trying to use it.

And GAIA IS STILL THE BEST!!!! Gaia Plus is still the Plus, wonderful Plus!
Thank you friends, all of you for being around and making your presence, love and support known, it felt less scary, LOL. IMHO, we are not looking like anybody else, we are GAIA! period.
I second that thought Samme.
Brilliant Bri created such a magical space and place when he planted his Zaadz seed. It has grown into a magnificent tree with limbs that wrap around Earth connecting ordinary beings, being and living extraordinary, transformational, loving, caring, sharing, compassionate, lives, knowing that for every action there is a reaction, and we are all connected, Earthlings, brothers and sisters, many clans, one tribe.
Namaste Jaguar Goddess, yes kudos to briliant Bri and his colleagues all around here and the background doing their bests keeping this place up. What a wonderful life!

I havn't read the above comments - But you know, people figured out some stuff here that was not provided, and it was fun for some and not for others. But, to take something away that we worked hard at seems a little not right, given that it was not communicated to this community. I would personally like more freedom of expression, a greater ability to format a page that is aestetically more pleasing.
Gang?
I Just posted my (our?) side over in the Support area. I feel that dear Samme's concern (that is, that we'd LET YOU KNOW when changes happen!) is the most important. Obviously I need to go look at the ticket list that the devs have to see what's in there; some of them date back weeks and months and I don't always know what'll show up in each release–it's a matter of balancing urgent bugs and oopses with smaller changes and requests.
Again, more in the Support section, but really the means to include tags in the status area and grapevine was (from the Team's point of view) a bug or an oversight rather than a feature, especially because it led to some pretty funky stuff happening on other people's profiles, and to the code of entire areas of the site (ie. the activity feeds). We've got a small support crew, and stripping tags ('fixing the bug') seemed the simplest way to solve that glitch. I'd heard many times in the community that people liked that we “weren't MySpace' (which to my mind is characterized by flashing gifs and glitter and so on…) and so I thought (bad assumption) that most wouldn't mind.
However, it seems only fair to allow for more 'freedom of expression' as lovely Satya put it, and I'm sure we can come up with some compromise, whether it's allowing limited HTML or adding 'gifts' to exchange (roses and hearts and fairies and so on) that wouldn't bork the code.
Thank you, all. As always.
Siona,
I just can't resist this little quaint word here…bork the code.
I thought to myself..how quaint..then visions of the borg came up..
I couldn't shake it…so Google to the rescue..
Here's what the Urban dictionary has to say about it…
now i'm more confused then ever….;-)
