What was the first word, or sentence, you spoke?

This is in Response to the Questions and Reflections for August 02, 2008:
When I was a little kid (I'm the youngest of seven), my parents, my 3 brothers and 3 sisters wondered how come I have not spoken yet before I was five years old. My mother had this folkloric superstition that if you feed a child who does not speak the cooked female part of the pig that the child will be able to speak. It turned out that it was my father who ate it by mistake so I missed the chance. Funny actually but some of you may be squeamish. One time all of a sudden after having not spoken for a long time I uttered, "pulot" which means "honey" from the bee. So my mother fed me honey. I probably got too much at one time that I choked and turned red and could not breathe. Heimlich maneuver did not do any good so they rushed me to the hospital. The doctor said I almost died because of the honey that blocked my air passage tube. I think that's how the story went according to my mother. After that incident I was able to speak and nobody could stop me speak except I did not spoke about that one secret. And the rest is history, here I am alive. And do you know the reason why I did not spoke before I was five? Some of you have read that already from my previous blogs. It was because I was told not to speak about how I was violated physically by my uncle. I forgive and forgave already.
Did you know that honey is the only "food" that does not spoil, if I am not mistaken?
Moon River movie Bad Education " La Mala Educacion "
When I was little my mother wrote this on a card stock like a folded prayer card;
Amen.
That is the Lord's Prayer in Tagalog and this prayer helped me stay strong and it has comforted me all throughout my life so far.
My mother is here supporting me emotionally with her motherly love. In a few hours I will be driving her back to my sister's house. I love my mother and my father.
Thank you,
Samme

The way before brings us to our NOW. And it is in our NOW that we rejoice in our bliss - within ourselves, our family and our friends.
Honey is way toooooo sweet for me. I like it hot, hot, hot….bring on the chilies.
Sending love to my dear Samme.
The way before brings us to our NOW. And it is in our NOW that we rejoice in our bliss - within ourselves, our family and our friends.
Exactly, ~K (Jaguar Goddess). Thank you for being part of that NOW for me with your love and friendship.
Love chilies too.
Sending and receiving love,
Samme
You are just the most awesomest, beautifulest person to me Samme; that story struck so many different themes… It took the honey to entice you, like you said, the most enduring 'food' in nature, just as the honey of living a full life finally enticed you to reveal your secret and to free yourself. I think you are just picky! lol
I'm really happy you have your mom with you and have this beautiful, sharing time in her presence. God continue to bless you.
Friend, sherri
LOL thank you Sherri. I am picky with men but not with food. : )
I tried vegetarian for three years and now back to eating meat again. Those three years were great though. I don't know what to say, but I have Siona to thank for coming up with questions that resonate with me and then also the way the next questions shed light to continue to unravel me. And also I have to thank my friends here and also you Sherri for our heartbound soulbond friendship. Love your new picture.
Thank you Sherri,
Samme
hey sweet sherri pie sing with me and erykah to honey, ; )
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_9jpkF1ehD8
Darn, the video is not available in my country. Don't you wonder about these things in this day and age? It's possibly why the world still feels divided at times. Oh well, I'll check out Erykah elsewhere and yes, savour that honey :) Thanks darling. sherri
Youtube and Google video sites has enabled me to catch up on a lot of things and music that I have missed and I encountered new ones that I may have not known otherwise without these wonderful video sites, bring on creativity!!! You mean you cannot see the video from the link?
I know that Iran is blocking Youtube but there are open-source programmer's out there who are so computer savvy enough and made a program to de-block this blocking of videos so that some Iranians who downloaded this program can see what the rest of the world sees. Kudos to free speech and to music videos. : )
Cute baby picture of you Samme! Your story is indeed touching. Can you please translate the words your mother wrote on a card stock? Plzzzzzz. Mothers are so precious. I remember once you said on my grapevine how hard it would have been on the part of my mother to let me stay in the monastary at a very young age. Thank you for sharing.
Thank you Assaji. With honor here is the translated prayer in English;
Our Father
Our Father, who art in heaven,
hallowed be thy name.
Thy Kingdom come,
thy will be done,
on earth as it is in heaven
Give us this day our daily bread.
And forgive us our trespasses,
as we forgive those who trespass against us.
And lead us not into temptation,
but deliver us from evil.
For thine is the kingdom, the power and the glory. for ever and ever. Amen
Hi Samme, thank you so much for sharing your story here. You are a beautiful human being, you know. I am wondering what country you are from? It's wonderful that you love your mother and father, that you have forgiven what happened to you, and that you share your essence so much with all of us. This story with all of its details is fascinating: the not speaking before age five, the feeding of the cooked part of the pig to help the speaking, the honey story. And don't you just want to hug that little child with his wide assessing eyes? Is that you?
Thank you Samme! How cute! The story is wondrous! Your forgiveness courageous! Why do you think you asked for Honey? Do you think your spirit was telling you something?
I am Love, Jeff
Thank you Centria Kathy! My native language is Tagalog and my native country is Philippines. I came here in 1985 with three of my sisters and one brother. Yes, the one in the picture is me. I clearly remembered this one. The photographer walked the streets and knocked from house to house asking if the residents if they want to have their photograph taken. He also carried that stool chair that I sat on in the picture. Namaste. Thank you for your soul recognition.
Samme
Honey is indeed perpetual…as is your spirit.
~ the scribe
Hi Jeff, thank you for being here and sharing. Wonderful question that made me stop again and think and ponder. I googled the meaning of the power of the bee where honey came from and found this, http://www.linsdomain.com/totems/pages/bee.htm I would say I don't know why I mentioned the word honey. If I had not asked for honey, I would have not choked, and would not have been rushed to the hospital, and hmmmm, thank you for your questions, they are a gift.
Namaste.
Samme
You Are Such a Honey Samme :-D
I'm not surprised you said something so Sweet, so Pure, so Precious and so Lasting.
(all represented by Honey)
People of this world took your word literally, as they often do :-D
That is an absolutely Darling childhood photo…the body language does not escape me ;-)
And guess what…although the family is Hindu, my mother also taught me the Lord's Prayer when I was a child. (just ME, LOL). Funny thing, isn't it?
Love Youuuuuu~~<3
Namaste scribe sky thank you for the soul recognition and now I re-member. : )
Now I am also thinking how honey flows so slowly, kind of my life, I am a late bloomer, not complaining but pondering, makes sense now. Ha ha ha.
Glad I could stir the Honey in you? and thanks for the link… it says a lot in a few short words… Resurrected 1! I was seeking to get Samme to see and or feel the power of the word, why it was spoken? Not give him the answers. He did go look and he is now in a thought process that could be very meaningful…
I am Love, jeff
I just love Gaia for this wonderful blog art and aesthetics. I love this dialog like box and especially when friends come visit and then stay for a moment to post and chat. Lovely ain't it?
I am serving tea “with honey” (LOL) to all, there how's that for literal.
Hi Ariela, love you to be here. And hey the body language is unintentional, lol. “I am innocent.” ; )
I love that you shared that also about the Lord's Prayer. It is one of my vivid childhood memories that is filled with love and light and motherly love. My mom made me memorized it as I am sure you did too. I used to pray it before I go to sleep as well as the give me this and give me that kind of prayer a child has. LOL
I should rekindle my childhood ways and be childlike in the eyes of god.
Thank you dearest Ariela.
more than a prayer,
samme
Very sweet, Samme. Namaste to you and your family; you're blessed to have each other.
Did you know the word Samme translates into honey in my language? I knew you did.
I was wide-eyed when I read what you said Paul that Samme translates into honey in “your language.” I thought what language is that and then I realized you are being sweet. Well gratitude just the same. : ) My father made my name ends with an E and is pronounced just like Sammy. He said he wanted it to be unique. As I have mentioned that there are seven of us and all our names starts with the letter S and our middle initial is S and the first letter of my last name is S. Thank you Paul. You are my mentor, mendtor and friend.
LOL…the body language is unintentional perhaps, but still has meaning.
You were being photographed by someone you didn't know, in your house.
Your leg crossed like that is a way to ward off negativity and very much self-protecting.
It was very conscious on another level :-D
My, my, my all those S's…you get more fascinating with each word ;-)
Hey, hey, hey…guess what else? My real first name (americanized version) translates into:
HONEY :-D hahahahaha…Seriously!
Lovely Saturday chat with friends over tea, I adore it =)
Such a cute picture; just looked again. To add to the trivia on bees, I connect you to my friend ange's blog “The Bees and the Healing Orders”.
It seems like the honey helped to clear some seriously blocked passages; they needed a bit of 'widening'[?] for activation? Pure, sweet speculating right now.
Sweet, Paul. Love your lingo :) Lovely people here after the Eclipse. It's really nice.
sherri
'Tis true, 'tis true, I must admit about body language whether conscious or unconscious. Let me tell you all this story. When people hugged me, unconcsciously to me for the longest time or unbeknownst to me that the lower part of my body is away from the one who is hugging me. So it look like I am not fully engaged in hugging or embracing. A friend of mine noticed this and pointed it out to me and flatly said to me, “you were sexually molested weren't you?” I asked how does he know? He said just like I mentioned that whenever somebody is hugging me my body is not in full contact with the one hugging me which at that time made me realized is true.
So we need to create a new curriculum curricula to the new paradigm education system:
enlightened sex education
past life regression
body language
language and communication
traumatherapy
okay here is for a lighthearted sweet Saturday
Honey by Mariah Carey
thank you jeff, paul, ariela and everyone reading.
Thanks for sharing Samme,
My daughter never spoke until we left , and then all of a sudden she has never stopped.
People that do not know my children say they are so quiet, and do not speak, yet with their friends , and me they speak none stop:0)
I am the same , I hardly say BOO , people think I am a very quiet person , yet when I am with certain people , I come to life. Gaia has given me so much to be thankful for.
I will always love you.
Thanks, Samme:)))
Loriann
My sherri, mon sherri, my sherri amour, wow thank you for that link of the beeblog by ange. Bees, honey, eclipse, sweet decadence. : )
The power of the bee is talking to me today, maybe I should go and rent Akeelah and the Bee, I know it's about the spelling bee but who knows maybe there is a lesson for me there.
Has anyone here have read The Secret Life Of The Bees? I can read that, why not?
thank you all you lovely people
Lovely prayer Samme. I am glad this prayer helped you stay strong and it has comforted you all throughout your life so far.
Well I noticed something. Baby Samme has a bunch of hairs on the front part of his head, just that. Can you see? It's lovely. How old were you then Samme?
Beautiful comes to mind. Beautiful sharing!
So honored to walk this journey with you from where you are Samme.
Life serves up all the sweetness and the abilty to choke you with it.
Ha haa.
Paradessence.
Blessings, David
Thank you Assaji True Eloquence . I think I might have been three years old here, not sure. I think in my past life I was a zen monk hence the hair. ha ha
Well actually a buddhist monk who attained a high degree of practice and training have told me I was a zen monk in my past life.
no thing is nothing
nothing is no thing
some things are nothing
nothing is something.
Love your theories on the expanded school curriculum; it's unfortunate how much of it applies, huh. I must admit, some vocal gentlemen comment about the fact that when I hug them I don't engage below the upper body… yup, past trauma. Intimacy is still a grey area for me sometimes.
My lessons from the bee today are: natural sweetness defies stagnancy [doesn't go stale] hehehe, the 'carriers' get to bounce from beautiful flower to flower and carry and deposit the good, life bringing stuff, and they have a sting to protect themselves where necessary! Those bees really quietly go about their life supporting duties too, don't they? Have you heard of Royal Jelly? Known for its good stuff for some time as well.
I'd probably recommend Bee Movie… it's about Freedom to beeeeee!!!
God, even I am ashamed that I went there hahah Ok, I'm not going to beeee so corny anymore. BBye
Yes, beautiful is the word, this life, this journey that we take.
Take the bitter with the sweet.
Thanks David HeyOK.
blessings to you,
samme
I forgot about that the Bee Movie, yes I should go out and rent that one too. It's nothing to be ashamed of. Thank you sherri and everybody for all the sharing and the learning.
love you all, wow, just like last saturday was a super day for me because of my family gathering and now we have this which we always do everyday anyway but I dare say, I feel the shift, yes I do.
receiving and sharing, sharing and receiving,
samme
the more you live, the more you love, the more you learn
Now we know why our lovely Samme has such a honeyed-tongue, why his words flow and soothe our very souls. I really enjoyed this blog/story, Samme, and all of the resulting chatter. I was thinking that you may have started talking just to save your own life - LOL! The story reminded me of an Amy Tan tale; the mother seeming a wee bit crazy with her superstitions and then in the end the child finds that it wasn't all so crazy.
I was born tongue-tied and my mother used to lament the fact that she ever had that little extra piece of skin snipped - apparently I was a chatter-box.
Much love to you, Sweet One. (the pic is so adorable, I just want to pick that wide-eyed child up and never let him go!)
Oh my bee, this comments look like the beehive, different sweet compartments. Hey up there Loriann, I have not forgotten you up there, how can I, you are in my heart. We are heartsisterbrother. I acknowledge and appreciate everybody. Thank you for sharing. blessings,
samme
Samme…. YOU'RE the BEST!
XOXO
And two of my long time Gaia honey friends posted at the same time methinks, Ayla and LAdYbeAr. Ha ha good one Ayla, yes I admit to be a member of the honey sweet organization. Thank you for sharing that story about Amy Tan's novel.
Thank you Ladybear, I am still here so I must share and share alike! : )
love to you both
samme
I haven't seen the movie Akeelah and the Bee, but I HAVE seen the previews and I think it parallels my childhood :-D
ahem…multi-spelling-bee-champ here :-D LOL
Though I had my Daddy supporting me =) Soooo grateful for him ;-)
Okay Ariela, wait, I am thinking if we have mentioned about being spelling champions to each other? I am too, get out of town!
I mentioned it here http://princesamwise.gaia.com/blog/2007/1/five_things_you_dont_know_about_samme
Yessireee, I am a speling chomp and I don't need a spell cheker to know that what I write have corect spelings.
thank you ariela,
samme
LOL
Holy spell checker! I was a spelling champ myself in school. WTF? They just gave me a dictionary and told me to learn it. And I went 'Ok'… I rarely use spell check now, tell the truth. I'm quite a perfectionist in that way. Handwriting too, actually, although I hardly write for anyone else to read nowadays…
I should watch that movie. I'm gonna look for it today.
Holy cow… bee… whatever.
Your story moves me to tears. I am touched and impressed by your ability to forgive. The sweetness that you bring to Gaia is like that of the honey that first enticed you to speak.
Namaste.
Three years old ha, way too young.
lol lol Samme, do the Zen monks have hairs like that too? I thought they are fully shaven!
Thank you Peace Seeker for your kind words. I like how the way you put that and I appreciate your soulconnection. love and joyful tears, samme
Hey Assaji. I take it back it is not zen monk but Shaolin monks that can have hair like that, no?
I used to have beautiful thick flowing hair that is long and went down to my behind. ; )
Well honey bee, pun intended, I totally can see a Zen Buddhist in you: You’ve got the Smile covered, you’ve got the breathe covered and you’ve got the ‘Go Slowly’ covered [like the honey haha]… while you’re at it, you’ve got the life as worship covered.
You’re a modern day Zen Master!
I would have loved to see your hair flowing! WOWWW!! :D
Namaste, Samme. Sweet precious eyes. That kingdom is coming for the children.
LMAO Samme…you are my brother from another mother :-D We also share having hair down to our behinds, LOL :-D…I was so good at spelling words I didn't know…that I even got entered into the Spanish spelling bee. (I didn't win that, but made it pretty far for someone who didn't know spanish)
Sherri is our sister from another mister :-D
This is what I ADORE about Gaia…Connecting, Resonating…finding our similarities and embracing those and not Differences.
Love All~~<3
I am not sure Shaolin monks can keep hairs like that either, but the last Chinese dynasty had a custom of keeping a bunch of hairs really long flowing down behind ha. So may be it is connected to that. Anyway, what the Buddhist monk has predicted about you could be right too. You have all the qualities to be.
Samme..I seem to be empathic on a auditory range..This just flew in my thoughts as I read your beautiful prose.
It's called Honey from the Jar by Herbie Hancock
I hope you enjoy it a much as I enjoy you….Oh! and Don't you ever stop…;-)
Namaste'
Samme,
Vulnerable, nothing to hide, no defensive and open heart to show the Love you are Samme with arms wide open.
Big Hugs
Oopps I lost my composition to each of you. Nonetheless, thank you Ariela, Janie, Sherri, Assaji, Lars (love the Hancock tune) and Leann for being here and keep on coming back. I appreciate all your friendship and beauty and sharing. love you all and you out there,
Samme
A beautiful sharing Samme,
you are an inspiration, I see you eternally blessed my friend, as sweet as honey and I send you love,
the bees truly love you….
Thanks ange, and now i finally realized and recognized my power animals and power insects, they are the bats and the bees, how about that! One time when I was giving a seminar inside a room in a building, a bat suddenly flew inside the room. What an auspicious event. And now I also realized the bees are the ones that make me really sweet, yes I am, I agree, I am sweet.
100% sweet,
samme
Another bee tribute blog! From Hal. http://shortsleeves.gaia.com/blog/2008/8/i_can_bee
Be good hehehe sherri
Thanks for visiting and sharing your thoughts Samme. I enjoyed your writing, your profile and I appreciate your consciousness.
With Chi,
Hal
Pleas add me to your list of friends!
Thanks Sherri for looking out and sharing and caring. Thank you for bringing over the love, Hal is here.
Hal, thank you. You are my friend.
Samme, what a magical story. That video is a haunting accompaniment. I'm sorry about what happened with your uncle.
Your quiet first years gave you a lot of time to think and grow in a way few of us ever do. I've rarely managed to hush up and just *watch* life happen, without a running commentary. In fact, I am told I began speaking at 10 months of age.
Warm thoughts, and thanks for telling this story and sharing that perfect photo : )
bows,
crow
Thank you crow for being here and for your kind words. The video is from the movie “La Mala Educacion” a film by Pedro Almodovar that touches on molestation issues as well among other themes in the movie.
sharing love and light,
Samme
Wow, what an energetic free flowing blog! I can see the roller coaster healing and cleansing you've been riding for the past days, starting with your getting back into speaking terms with your elder brother and then your revealing your most kept secrets all of a sudden! I salute you Samme and am so happy for you and all of us. A big YES to your wise quote:
“When I am naked and vulnerable to the whole world, what is there left to hide? No one can hurt me anymore.” ~SSS
You're all honey, sweet, sticky, luscious, loving……am privileged to be your friend.
Thank you for spreading love the way you have and are continuously doing all over gaia and beyond! Just like honey on bread - I like it that way! And thanks for the tea with lemon and honey (I added the lemon)!
Namaste`, love, light, and blessings 'kababayan',
Mila
Every guest to my blog is welcome and I am honored for all your presence even to those readers only guests. thank you.
Thank you Mila. Do you have a time frame as to your “idea in the air for now move and relocation”?
Let's share among friends honey and pandesal or pan de leche. When was the last time you were back to PI? I came here in 1985 and haven't been back?
Namaste Mila, with utmost respect and friendship,
Samme
This immigration matters are so unpredictable. They sometimes come up with all sort of new requirements each time. Hopefully we have completed all in the second submission and maybe just need medical clearance. Perhaps, within this year?
I visited my father and my adopted sister and other relatives and friends in early 2005. Left RP in 1984 and had visited about 3 or 4 times.
Sisterly,
Mila
