RAINMAKER

This may have been thought of before but I came upon this idea of a machine that over a short period of time will create the necessary factors for it to rain. This will be good in places where there are drought and rain-deprived areas.

I googled for such a device or any talks concerning about this idea and found none. Maybe I didn’t look hard enough. I researched on what causes rain and the conditions on why it rain. I am just not going to list what I have found out here. What I will be ruminating about is the possibility and feasibility of it.

I just have an idea which may have been thought of already by another. I don’t have answers. Instead I have questions. If the world can come up with this device, would we want to implement it? The thundering answer may be, “of course!” But let’s imagine another scenario. What if a certain body of nation misuse this technology and use it as a “genocidal machine” where the rain will be contaminated and cause the deaths of millions of people. Imagining that do we still want to have this technology applied?

You may say well we will hold our government accountable or we will do a checks and balances on this technological system so those kind of things don’t happen. But history keeps on repeating itself on war and terrorism and human rights violations issues.

Government holds the power to end the war or start a war. Do they? Or is it the citizens of the nations and the world who hold the power. If it is us then why the hell do we still have these wars all around us? What is keeping us from mobilizing against these efforts? Are we powerless or “powerful beyond measure?”

I would like to share this Native American legend on rainmakers.

A Sioux Legend

There once was a time when it did not rain for a great many months. The Prairie turned brown from the Sun, and the Great River that nurtured the land began to dry up. The Plants struggled against the dry Earth to breath and grow, while the Animals became weak and could not hunt. All the while the People waited, looking towards the sky and wondering what they had done to bring such misfortune upon themselves. While the People waited, Fear grew. This Fear grew so quickly that in a very short time it began to spread across the entire Prairie, choking out everything and everyone in its path until at last it covered all but one very small place in the Prairie where only the Children and the Old Ones would sit and play together.

When Fear came to the place where the Old Ones and the Children sat playing, it stopped. One of the Children looked up from where it had been playing and asked, "What is this thing that has come to visit us?" "It is Fear," said one of the Old Ones. "Does it want to play?", asked the Children. "Fear has forgotten how to play," said the Old Ones. The Children were very sad to learn that Fear had forgotten how to play. They began to talk amongst themselves about how this could be dealt with. Finally, the Children decided that if they were to have a Great Dance then perhaps Fear could learn how to play again. They went to the Old Ones and asked if the Old Ones would teach them the songs that Children should know if they were going to have a Great Dance with Fear.

Because the Old Ones had once been Children themselves, they knew that it would be impossible to try and talk the Children out of Dancing with Fear. Besides, they were happy to be useful once again, and it was good to sing their songs and hear young voices learning the melodies and words. At some point in all of this teaching, no one is really sure quite when, the Children and the Old Ones began their Dance with Fear.

The sounds of the Singing and the Dancing echoed across the empty Prairie. Soon the Wind carried these songs to the homes of the People. Little by little, the People made their way across the dying land until they came to the place where the Children and the Old Ones were Dancing. When the People arrived, they could not believe what they saw. The Children were Singing and Dancing in a Great Circle and the Old Ones were Singing and Dancing in an even Greater Circle around them and in the center of this Circle they saw Fear. The Children and the Old Ones called out to the People, "Come join us, we are Dancing with Fear!"

One by one the People joined the Great Circle. Soon all of the People were Singing and Dancing. Fear could no longer keep still. As Fear started to Dance, Tears began to pour out of its eyes and laughter began to live in Fear's heart. The Children and the Old Ones and the People all began to Cry along with Fear. The Wind heard all of the Singing and Dancing and Crying and came to see what was happening. Soon the Wind joined the Great Circle and all of them were Singing and Dancing and Crying together. The Wind carried the Singing and Dancing and Crying back out across the Prairie to invite all of the Plants and Animals to come join in the Great Dance with Fear. Soon these Tears were falling down like rain all across the Prairie, filling the Great River and giving Life back to the places where Fear had once walked.

There are those who know that the Great Dance is still going on to this day. Many of the People went back to their work and soon forgot about the Dance. Fear has had many children since the day that the Dance first started, and these children walk the Prairie much in the same way that their Father once did. As long as the Great Circle remains unbroken, there are those who know that there will be a home for the children of Fear, and a place for the Rainmakers to play.

Altair and Vega

In the sky during the summer nights you can find a long white band; people in the West call it the Milky Way, but ancient people in China called it Tian He, the Heavenly River, or Yin He，the Silvery Way. To the east of Tian He is a constellation consisting of four stars, called Vega. To the west three stars, called Altair, form a straight line. * *

The beautiful and gentle Vega, a granddaughter of the King of Heaven, wove silk and satin every day. She worked so hard that she had no time to enjoy herself. Realizing that she was hardworking but lonely, the King of Heaven married her to Altair to the west of the Heavenly River. After they were married, they lived very happily, romping in the sky together and enjoying themselves beside the Silvery Way.

The previously hardworking Vega now devoted all her time to her new love, making the King of Heaven very angry. After summoning and blaming the two lover, he demanded that Vega return to the east of the river allowing her to meet Altair but once a year. After returning to the east of the river, Vega resumed her lonely and tiring work. Waving her thin and delicate hands back and forth, she wove silk and stain, but because she was always sad and tearful, she was unable to weave even one bolt per day. Altair, to the west of the Heavenly River, couldn't plow the fields either; he just moped about each day thinking only of Vega. *

Although the river was clear and shallow, the couple could not talk to each other across it. They could only look longingly at one another. *

Finally on the seventh night of the seventh lunar month, Vega and Altair could be together at last. On this day they shone brilliantly. Magpies flew from afar creating a bridge over the Silvery River so Vega could cross to meet her husband. Vega, beautifully dressed, hurried across the magpie bridge to return to her husband.

The star Vega (Weaving Maid) is the 5th brightest star in the sky. Therefore, it's very easy to find in the summer night. The size of Vega is 16 times bigger than the Sun. The temperature on its surface is more than 10,000 degrees. The brightness of Vega is 25 times brighter than the Sun. It's 25 light years away from the Earth.

The star Altair (Cowherd) is the 11th brightest star in the sky. Therefore, it's not difficult to find in the summer night. The size of Altair is 4 times bigger than the Sun. The temperature on its surface is about 8,000 degrees. The brightness of Altair is 11 times brighter than the Sun. It's 17 light years away from the Earth.

One popular Tanabata custom is to write one's wishes on a piece of paper,
and hang that piece of paper on a specially erected bamboo tree, in the hope that the wishes become true. This is also called the Chinese Valentine's Day.

What's in this blog post for you? You may discover some new stuff to download that can enhance your enjoyment and productivity while surfing Gaia or the net. Each individual is unique but there are plenty on the links that you can choose from.

These are just a few of my favorite (things) Add-ons:

What are Add-ons? Add-on is a term used to denote those things that you can download to bring other functionality to your browser whether it is Explorer or Firefox. For this post, I will talk about my favorite add-ons for Firefox 3 browser and Windows OS that you can investigate and decide if you want to download and use them too.

Disclaimer: Always be careful downloading stuff from the net and use your judgment.

You can search and browse for the add-ons, extensions and themes you would like to download. This is a legitimate and trustworthy site but there are some downloads that might not just work for your computer. So before you download read first what it is about and read the reviews by users. You can see the number of downloads an add-on have and if it is popular, you can rest assure that it is good but you have to see if you will like the feature.

1. Cooliris – If you have this add-on, when you point your cursor to a link it will show you an icon to the left. When you hover your cursor over it, a window will appear showing you the contents of that link. Let’s say you point to the comments link in someone’s blog, a new window will appear showing you the comments that was posted and you can read them all. You can click and add your comments from within this window and post. Once you click outside the Cooliris window then the window will disappear. You can elect to have that small window bigger too if you choose. I love this feature. You can check it out here

2. IE tab- Yes you can have an Internet Explorer tab within Firefox. There are just some websites that I use that is better in IE browser like Netflix believe it or not. Check it out here

3. Stumble bar – This should have been number one because I realized that I use this often. This feature will enable you to discover interesting sites with a click of a button. Sounds nice.

4. Adblock Plus – Say goodbye to popups and some ads.

5. Flashblock – This will block those Flash ads like for example those dancing goofy-looking men about a mortgage loan or something that repeats over and over. But to let you know that this will block Youtube videos that we use often here in Gaia. But don’t worry all you have to do is just click on the play button and you will see the Flash-based object. There will be times when you know which ones not to click on like "some but not all" annoying ads. So check this out here

I limited my list to 5 but there are hundreds that you can choose from. There are other popular ones but I am not going to list them all here. Please check them out yourself and just be mindful on which add-on is giving you computer problems. You will be able to uninstall add-ons that you have downloaded by clicking Tools in the menu, then Options, then Add-ons and from there it lists all your Add-ons and you can Disable them or Uninstall it.

SUGGESTION

Attention cultivators and moderators of Gaia pods:

I would like to share with you an idea for your pods. I would like to suggest for you to open up a venue where other people can post a "widget" that contains the RSS feed for other blogs. This is so that people in your pod can easily see what is happening in other people's pods. Also for cultivators and moderators of pods, by doing this and posting in other pods your "pod widget" you will creatively plug your own pods and not just writing, "please join my new pod".

I used to have a widget for my pods when we used to have the zPro. The widget for those who don't know will refresh to show the latest posts in a particular pod.

For pod cultivators who would like to implement this, you can either create several pod widgets RSS feeds of your own choosing and post them in one single thread so it can easily be read in one go. I don't see this as a way of distracting others away from your own pod. I see it as we are all helping each other out and this can be another way of transferring information faster. Please link to this blog post when you implement so others can follow suit.

There are several sites out there that you can make your widgets from. I will let readers suggest sites. Please let us know if you don't know how to create a widget or how to post it in your own pods.

One can conquer all but there is nothing to gain

Seek to understand that is my stance

There is no fluff when I say we should dance

The whole world is around you and within you

One word can save the world

One act to have and to unfold

There will always be oppositions

People will have their different positions

I will be featuring an art by a certain artist (great masters and contemporary artists or Gaia member if they ask me) in my profile page which will stay there until I decide to post the next one. This art feature will include pictures of; paintings, sculpture, art installations, murals, street art, outsider art, photography from all over the world and different era and traditions. Link to the original sources will be included. An archive of the past features in my

ART & ARTIST FOR THE DAY will be place in one of my pods. I will implement this for inspiration, meditation, awareness and to spread beauty. Emphasis is on the artwork and not on the personal life of the artist. There are other venues for erotic and violent art but they will not be featured here. Suggestions are welcome for a link to an artwork that you would like to be featured in my profile page. Your name with a link to your profile page will appear at the bottom stating, “suggested by”. You can start suggesting here in the comments and your suggestions will be lined up in a list.

Also I will be featuring VIDEO FOR THE DAY of music from different genres and would also like to ask for help with your suggestions on this one. Also once again the erotic and violent videos can be viewed anywhere else and will not be featured here. Nothing shocks me and I am in favor of free speech and noncensorship but I am practicing the Buddhist tenet of mindfulness and compassion and discernment and basic consideration.

The Warrior Is A Child

I am invoking all the saints, bodhisattvas, angels and allowing them to come and guide me in my journey to life. Not that you completely left me, I think, I know that all of you are always there but I have distrusted people and even divine beings who have nothing but the highest love and desires for me. I have felt so alone that I thought I was abandoned. I open my heart to the truth of what is, that love is within me. I should not wait for love. I should give love and love will come back to me. All my life I have been waiting for that love. I have read and have been told that I am enough. What exactly does that mean? Like others I need to feel love and give love and be love in return. But I am not getting it. Love has no time, has no space, has no dimension, and has no expectations, no rules, no rewards, no consolations, no lacks, no wants, no sight, no hearing, and no thinking. Love is not something that you "have" and love is not something to be had. But does love has a feeling? No, love has no feelings either. The love with feelings is an earthly love which is not bad. Your soul purpose is universal love. Love has only one thing to be called love – giving. Love is giving. Love is not wanting or needing. It is only giving and should be unconditional. When you are giving you love. There are so many opportunities to love and so why do I not love? What is stopping me from loving? Love is not a reward, love is not the reward. Love is not a prize, love is not the prize. But I am only human. I am stubborn. I forget. I get impatient. I get lonely. I get depressed. I. I. I. I? Who is the I? That which you are calling “I” is love. So why are you waiting for love when you are love? What’s stopping you from loving? What’s stopping you from helping other people? You do but don't give up. What’s stopping you from opening yourself up? What is still hurting you? What is still bothering you? Let it out and be free of them. Be naked in the face of God. Be vulnerable to the rest of the world. Your example is a catalyst for freedom to flow, for love to grow. Isn’t that what you want? So why are you hiding? So why are you keeping still? The world needs you now. You will see that you will have love far beyond your expectations. You will have love more than you can contain. Your cup will overflow. Love is not somebody else in the house. Love is not somebody to hold hands with. Love is not somebody you can kiss. Love is not something you marry. Love is not something you join. On the contrary love is what you give away. Love is what you let go. There is a much higher love than that. If you have that take care of it and be happy and nurture each other. If you do not have that “image” it does not mean that you do not have love. Love is not an image. Love is not even a manifestation. Love is not stagnant. You cannot just say you love the world and not do anything about it. Love is action, conscious compassionate considerate kind discerning action. Yes love should be discerning, that’s the time that you are showing love to yourself. All of you are not vibrating yet at the same higher level frequency. Until then you should be discerning. But practice openness, compassion, conscious loving actions. Love should not stay inside of you. Love should not be waiting inside of you waiting to be love. Bring out the love in you. The partner is not the goal. You are the goal. So what exactly is I am the goal? You are infinite in a limitless universe and endless incarnations. Do you still need to be depressed? That is what you don’t see and what is making you impatient. You lose your focus and your purpose. Love is not a competition. Love is not a game. There are no losers and winners in love. You are not a loser if you do not have anybody or have lost somebody. All the things that have happened to you, they are all nothing. I repeat – nothing. And I am not being harsh or judgmental on that one. No I am not validating or invalidating you or anyone. Your sadness, your sorrows, your hurts, your broken hearts, your pain, your losses, your aches and so on and on are nothing. That time when your boyfriend told you that he is moving in with someone else and you are so heartbroken and your dad picked you up. You could not cry inside the car but your father knows your pain and he loves you and asks forgiveness of you. I know you have forgiven him and have forgiven yourself. Even those times of happiness, of joys, of bliss, of job promotions, of your first kiss, your peak experiences, they are all nothing. Nothing in comparison to what I can give you. Sure you should be happy about them but don’t lose sight that if it is the opposite it does not mean that you have been slighted. What do you love? I am asking you Samme what you love. Do you love your past, your hurts, and your broken heart? I can give you some more of those. Show me what you love and I will give it to you. Do not show me what you don’t love, show me what you love. We are not your enemy. We are your friends. We are much more than love. We already know what you want but we want you to show it to yourself. We want you to give it to yourself. We want you to allow yourself. We want you to open yourself. Do you get it now? Do not forget. This time you will never forget. You can be much more than what you are now. Your healing has begun. Keep on walking forward to the light and love all the way. You invoked all the angels, all the bodhisattvas and all the saints. They are all around you. They are always around you. But listen closely who is talking to you. Listen closely. Listen like you’ve never listened before. I have always been here for you. I never abandoned you. I was more hurt than you were in your loneliest times. But you never know what it is for me. You were never alone. You are love. I love you!

BOOKS

Before the Q&R came into existence I had posted some questions for members to answer and in that tradition, I would like to ask what will be your 10 Desert Island books. What will be the 10 books that you will bring in a desert island? This exercise is to know the 10 most favorite books that you would like to bring. I prefer to read in the comments a list of books and not things like you will just meditate or relax. Also there are already books in this island such as the OT and NT bible, Tao Te Ching, Koran, Encyclopedia, Oxford Dictionary, thesaurus, almanac and blank books for you to write your own story. So I prefer not to see those in your answers and would like to discover some more books that you like. Please list titles and authors. Thank you for sharing,

KNOCK

Yesterday Friday there was a knock on my door. I was not going to answer it thinking it just might be solicitors but I opened the door and was surprised. My two brothers are outside the door. I was quietly surprised to see my eldest brother at the door the one i described in one of my posts whom I cannot relate with. He asked me how am I doing and asked why I am off from work. He wants to know if I am okay. For the first time in my life, I felt his care and concern for me. Looking at his face there was no judgment there. He didn't scold me but for the first time he understood me and we understood each other. That's all it takes. He didn't have to say anything. My broken heart melted and became whole again. That's all it took. I am your brother. I am your family. I am my own self. What I am is who I am. Please accept that. The way he always talked to me before is like always scolding me. Maybe it is his expression to show his love and concern for me but it is getting old news and we don't get to meet halfway and relate to each other. Oh sure I am grateful for him to have worked so hard in his life to take care of the whole family and being the reason for us to be able migrate here. But I felt so alienated all these years for he does not accept me as to who I really I am. With just one look, a simple act of gesture, I knew. Our walls dissolved. This was the simplest thing that ever happened to me and the greatest at the same time. We ate out and I never heard any, "listen to me I know more about life than you", kinds of speeches. I felt accepted. And then the rest of the day, I have connected with some friends as if they all talked with each other to surprised me. But it wasn't like that. They all happened to their own accords. God rained blessings and surely is everyday.

What have you learned from other animals?

This is in Response to the Questions and Reflections for July 21, 2008:

I am not a pet person. I am allergic to cats and get the itchy watery red eyes when I visit my friend who has cats. But I lingered on being in her house even though I am getting sick from the cat with my allergies. I was sneezing a lot too. I lingered because out of kindness and being nice and I am appreciating her hospitality. When I was asked if I am allergic to cats I did not directly say yes but said that I am just like that with everything. I just thought that my allergies and sneezing will pass.

Due to my recent breakthrough in my life, I felt more open and have tried to reconnect with friends. I just came back from visiting a friend and co-worker and I have never been to her place before. When I got in her place, she asked if I am allergic to cats and this time I said yes but I said I am going to be alright. I will just have to endure when I started sneezing or get the itchy watery eyes. She has 10 cats. I get sick even with just one cat. A major transformation happened, I let them go near me and sit on my lap, my chest, my belly and I even hold them and hug them and putting them safe in my arms. I felt different, it is a simple lovely peaceful feeling. I was not that close to cats before and let alone, pet them. It felt so good and the most amazing thing is I felt my allergy for cats is gone. I felt their love and them wanting to be close to me and around me. I felt love, unconditional love, it is a lovely feeling. And this question for the QaR is very timely as I just came home early in the morning from her place.

What have I learned from animals? That their love is pure and unconditional. That we all need love. That animals need love back and protection too from humans. That we can learn by being around them and being compassionate to them. This is another major healing that went on for me. When I felt more loving, I want to express my love more and more love is also coming my way. This co-worker of mine also, we have reached a different level of friendship, one of understanding each other and allowing each other's individuality. We never talk that much before and let alone I never knew that there will be a time when we are going to have this friendship bond.

I said in the beginning that, "I am not a pet person." Maybe what we think we are not in this life is the one that will bring us more love and be more whole. This is another major healing in my life that I could not let just pass by. I allow myself the love that I deserve. I allow myself to be more open and loving to all of god's creatures. I trust in the power of love. When I touch god's creatures it is sacred and full of love, I shall be gentle and caring to everyone.

Whose Birthday is it? Even though it is still tomorrow I am going to post this today July 31, 2008.
August 1, 1969 is the birth of the internet. Happy Birthday to the Internet. Yahoooooo!
Hey this is a day to celebrate like no other. Because of the internet a lot of couples have met and wed. A lot of people have networked and became friends, sounds like us here in Gaia. And Gaia is just one oasis among a million of sites out there. You've got to love the internet. I do!
