Death is inevitable
Transition from life inescapable
But not to be trampled in a frantic rumble
This senseless stampede is like a barbaric jungle.
Some mothers in the news who are fed up with crying babies
Shaking, starving, maiming, drowning, shooting babies
Women's bodies, women's rights
Don't take away her baby in a dash of flight.
Government sending troops to war
How ironic, waging war to bring peace afar
Spending trillions like an obsession causing recession
Endless meetings and sessions not coming to secession.
High school boys and college youths in a flight of fancy
Dash to school and shoots randomly in a might of frenzy
A child walks in a military facility and ask for water
Turns out he is a suicide bomber.
People are mad at the war in the Middle East and Iraq
Parents are mad at their kids playing violent videogames and music tracks
And yet one Black Friday morning when the dawn cracks
They dashed off like soldiers killing one and the merchandise they attacked.
What is this culture of materialism?
We have enough of consumerism
You get mad that your job went to China and Phuket
You stand hours in the cold for deals but never to the Capitol and picket.
Six billion people and everybody feels lonely and sad with emotion
Your love is infinite and your soul expression
You don't need validation and another for definition
Be still in your heart and mind and change the world with action.
What this country needs is a return to values and tradition
Coexisting with tolerance in a culture of peace, spirituality and meditation
Love, compassion and nonviolent communication is the answer to every notion
All are one in every nation.

With deep bows Ariela. I was asleep the whole day yesterday and when I woke up, I saw your dear Amma Aley's message on my grapevine talking about the guy being trampled to death by the onslaught of shoppers. It inspired me to compose this poem not just about Black Friday incident but other stuff in the news and the irony of it all.

Once again you ignited and inspired me and “you light up my life”. : )
You know me I have set some lyrics to instrumental songs before and actually Janie (Bluewater) is using one of my poem/song creation for a benefit CD for kids.
But this one I composed straight as a poem and upon reading your comment I am imagining a song for it. I can actually hear it as a rap. Who knew I could be a “rapper”? LOL Forget Will I. Am, make way for Sam I Am. ROTFLMAO
But seriously you got me thinking, I will look into submitting this into the John Lennon Song Competition or somewhere else.

Ok I found this instrumental hip hop tune in Youtube. Play it and then read my poem until you get the rhythm. Play it again and then try to rap, yes you can do it. Trust yourself and don't criticize yourself. It's a different experience. : )

heemes, don't take this the wrong way, but if one has to ask, then they don't get it.
But then again to answer your question, IMHO, love does not look like anything, love does not feel like anything, looks and feelings are transitory, love is love. So still again what is love? Love is anything that transforms negative into positive, that is unconditional, that is LOVE! The processes of nature is LOVE. Look within, there is love.
I see forgiveness and gratitude as an important part of love. Do you?
Forgiveness is a mutual thing and can only occur in a non-pressured environment.
Yes I do among many other things not mentioned in your quote and I cannot crammed all aspects of love in my poem. But if you read between the lines, forgiveness and gratitude are in the poem as well.

Love is love! (Real) Love is unconditional. Forgiveness is not a mutual thing, it is a 'personal' thing. How can a dead person forgive you? You forgive yourself and forgive the person and not expect any outcome, that is unconditional, that is true love.

We agree: Real Love is unconditional, Samme. I get that and live that out in my world daily.
A dead person has no need to forgive me nor I them. I trust all is well once the transition is complete, regardless of the path. My concern is the truth that is spoken about me, my reputation, my family. I forgive all in time's passage without expectation of return.
And still my heart feels…

samme: A dead person has no need to forgive you, correct; “nor I them”, wrong! I am not talking about you personally but in general, if there are unresolved issues between you and a dead person, like I said, one has to forgive them and then forgive oneself, for one's peace of mind.

samme: I respect your opinion but if one is still living in this “realm” then IMO one has to make amends, in his soul, in his spirit, in loving memory of the departed one.

samme: I don't know what is that “truth” you are speaking of about you, your reputation and your family. But if you say it yourself that it is the “truth”: if it is positive, live up to it and if it is negative, be love (turn it into positive).

samme: your not alone, we all feel that way
and BTW, if I may add, the heart is not the love, feeling is not the love, thoughts is not the love. So again the conundrum, “what is love?” You are love!
