JAZZ, ZaadZ, and Creativity
People have four distinct brain waves, beta, alpha, theta and delta.
Dee Coulter, specialist in musical patterning and neurological development finds that the jazz of Miles Davis, John Coltrane and John Cage can lift the listener into theta consciousness. Theta waves, considered the most highly creative brain waves, according to Coulter, give birth to artistic and spiritual insight.
Theta waves are slower compared to the more active beta and relaxed alpha waves. In deeper theta consciousness, people reach slowed activity, where highly creative states occur. While in theta, people's brains shuffle down information and reshuffle it in new directions. During such flow states, people can experience sudden intuitions providing ready-made insights and new solutions to unresolved problems (Eureka moments).
It is great to learn a musical instrument at your local community college, easy, convenient and cheap.

Excellent idea SILVER!
More music, more dancing, more creating, more smiling, more hugging, more laughing, more loving!!!!! Oh and more Theta waves.
Just when I needed more theta, here you are! blessings!
An inspiring post. Thanks SAMME!
In my professional life, I build software and I get to listen to music via headphones at work. I frequently listen to jazz and classical when I'm in more of a design-oriented, problem solving, analysis mode. When I just gotta get down and crank the code out, I prefer some Melvins or Nile.
Music of all kinds can uplift and transport. In fact, those qualities are what allow me to define the music that I “like” independent of genre. If it doesn't have that quality, then nope.
Hey Samme,
cool post. I've been in a musical frame of reference of late and have posted a blog on the book, The Secret Power of Music.
Familar with it?
Was also curious, do you use any binaural beat technology or are you familiar with Holosync?
Peace,
Darren
You know, I've been giving this subject a lot of thought since I came across Samme's entry…. And just last night, I conducted a mini-experiment on myself… (I went with my partner to a local art house where a jazz quartet was performing. My partner really wanted to go but I wasn't so keen. I let him talk me into it and thought, well, per Samme, at least I'll get exposed to some theta waves….)
Here's my wonder/hunch/suggestion: I think that people might gravitate towards particular types of music based on the kind of wave energy they intuitively feel that they need….it's kind of like self-medication in a sense….we choose the music that soothes us (or heals us) vibrationally…..
Any thoughts anyone?
